It's International Chocolate Day today and there are so many cakes I could have chosen to celebrate this happiest of days 😊 In the end I plumped for one that actually looks like an chocolate for my favourite day of the year 😋😋

My 2nd 90th birthday and my 2nd plane cake in two weeks.
Eddie used to play football as a winger and often recounts the time when he and his chum missed their plane on a return trip from a match abroad.
Huge thanks to Dawn for the bespoke structure kit. I honestly couldn't have made the plane without it. Dawn, you are an absolute legend! ❤️

Peter used to be in the RAF so I made him a Spitfire for his 90th birthday.

Had a lovely workshop at Hillingdon BSG last night where we were teaching our new members the art of brush embroidery. It's quite a long time since I've used this technique but I do like the effect. I remember using it on a wedding cake years ago. You don't see so much of it these days

Fore! I've taken another swing at cake-decoration and landed a hole-in-one with this Golf Bag Cake. Perfect for birthdays, retirements, or just because, this novelty cake is sure to be a hit at any event. Tee time has never been this sweet.

Woohoo!! Finally got a copy of our gold certificate for our branch table at the exhibition in Ardingly. My lighthouse was a part of this display. So, so proud of my branch 😊

This little vegan and gluten free chocolate cake accompanied the Chrysler car last week so the lady with an intolerance could also enjoy a slice of cake.

PLEASE NOTE: I don't make cakes for people with allergies (just intolerances) as ingredients containing allergens are stored and used in my kitchen on a regular basis.

Here's a better picture of my lighthouse. A big 'thank you' to Kusum Mendis who added the door and windows for me after I broke my wrist.

So it was the biennial exhibition of the British Sugarcraft Guild Southern Region at Ardingly showground last weekend and, as always, Hillingdon Branch, of which I am a member, entered a table of work in the branch table competition.

The theme for all the branch tables this time was sun, sea and sand and we did a beach scene, complete with promenade, for which we got a GOLD award! 🏅

I made the lighthouse 😁 and I'll be boring you all with more on that in later posts 😂

What it is to have good friends! Even in times of adversity I will do my utmost not to let my customers down.

This wedding cake was booked in with me in July last year then four weeks before the wedding I needed surgery to fix my broken wrist 😢 and the amount of work I can do at the moment is rather limited so I owe some massive 'thank yous' to a number of people who stepped up and totally saved the day.

Firstly to Dawn Butler who loaned me her cake lace mat so I could make the specific design of lace that the bride wanted on the cake. Honestly, Dawn's Academy is the best place EVER! Not only is there loads of amazing tutorials but you also get 1-2-1 support with Dawn, who is an award winning tutor, and not only that but Dawn will lend Academy members her equipment free of charge! Thank you Dawn ❤️

Next, I want to thank Ann White
who filled and ganached the cakes and then she came back a couple of days later with Elaine Haynes to cover them for me. Thank you both, you are superstars ❤️❤️

Last but not least, my amazing daughter, Kristal, who drove me to the venue .shenley.club and did all the heavy lifting and stacking of the tiers so I could position the last few decorative bits and pieces. I don't know where I would be without you Kristal May xx ❤️
