I caught up with the R4 interview with Kirsty Young regarding her huge health challenges with pain, fibromyalgia and arthritis. As part of her recovery and management, she references how helpful she found reflexology.
“ ….Reflexology which I thought was surely a load of old tosh! But I opened my mind to it and that really helped, it helped with joint swelling, it helped with inflammation, it helped with pain. So I found a really good person to do that.”
Love this...

As my reflexology clients know I am interested in the impact of stress on our physical and mental well-being, and I am passionate about providing calming reflexology treatments to support my clients with their stress management.
It was therefore wonderful to hear the interview with Dr Chatterjee and Jonathan Wolf, on the Zoe Podcast discussing, "Beat stress with science: 4 key techniques for stress relief."
During the interview the importance of human touch was highlighted with research showing "when the CT afferent nerve fibre is stimulated, you start to lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol."
Dr Chatterjee shares at 48:06 minutes in the interview, that "Some people really like massage or things like reflexology.... So, for that person by themselves, if they've got the resources and if they enjoy it, that could be something that will be very, very beneficial for their health."
It is truly wonderful to hear reflexology being recognised, as a tool for stress relief and management, and I am proud to be able to support my clients with this treatment.

I often get asked: How often do I need to have reflexology? I hope this will help...
What benefits are there with regular reflexology sessions?
1. Reduce stress: sessions help the body shift from “fight and flight” to “rest and repair” which is the state the body rejuvenates best.
2. Improved Circulation: reflexology encourages all body systems to restore normal function. When blood gets the oxygen and nutrients to circulate ideally, all glands, organs and parts of the body get the nourishment they need from the blood supply.
3. Emotional Release: the body stores emotions. When reflexes are worked, it is possible to release built up emotion while the body relaxes.
4. Pain Relief: As tension releases during a reflexology session, pain can be dimished or released.
5. Better sleep: Many people claim to have an amazing uninterrupted sleep after having a reflexology session.
6. Holistic healing: Reflexology may help the body to heal organically by helping all parts, glands and organs to remember their optimum state rather than the disfunction it is currently experiencing.
What is your favourite reason to have a reflexology session?
