While we patiently wait for the sunshine to return, there’s always coffee and pastries at the Cheese Shed, and toys and treats for very good pups 🐶 just like Izzy, who has her eye on something tasty!

Who’s joining us in Nettlebed today? 🧀

The votes are in and you have chosen to see our delicious Highmoor Cheese and Fig Toasts recipe, just the inspiration for your next summer soirée. Here’s how we made them:

Ingredients:
* 12 thin slices of baguette
* 150g Nettlebed Creamery Highmoor
* 6 fresh figs, quartered
* 2 tbsp honey
* Fresh thyme leaves
* Olive oil

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Drizzle the baguette slices with a little olive oil and place them on a baking sheet
3. Top each baguette slice with a slice of Nettlebed Creamery Highmoor cheese.
4. Pop in the oven for 10-12 mins or until the cheese has melted and started to bubble
5. Arrange fig quarters on top of the cheese.
6. Drizzle each toast with honey and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves.
7. Serve immediately for a delightful summer canapé or snack

Just FYI: these delicious morsels aren’t available from The Cheese Shed. But you can certainly buy our Highmoor cheese, bread and honey from our well stocked shop! Highmoor is also available to buy from

Let us know if you’re going to try this at home! Enjoy!

At The Cheese Shed, we’re excited to stock a range of fermented products, from sauerkraut to kimchi (a cool version, too!) and spicy cortido. These fermented foods are not just delicious; they’re also incredibly beneficial for your gut health. Packed with probiotics, they support your digestive system and overall wellbeing. We should all be adding fermented foods to our diet on a weekly basis and these jars are an easy and tasty way to make healthier habits in the kitchen.

These are perfect with a barbecue, adding a unique flavour and crunch that complements smoky, fatty meats. They’re also a great addition to simple sandwiches, elevating your lunch with a tangy twist.

We always emphasise the importance of gut health, and these products make it easy (and tasty) to take care of yourself. Visit us at The Cheese Shed to explore the full range of Loving Foods fermented products and give your gut the love it deserves 😘

Step into the secret world of moths and become a citizen scientist at this Marvellous Moths workshop.

Guided by conservation and horticulture expert Anita from Moomi Botanicals, we will discover moths from inside a moth trap placed in The Nettlebed Creamery grounds.

We will identify them together using magnifying glasses and ID charts, as well as the irecord app to log their species and location, which will provide conservation scientists with important information about the biodiversity of the species in the local area.

Moth identification will be followed by a craft session with Lyndsay, where we will create the following;

🌸 Wildflower seedbombs decorated with dried flower petals
🦋 Vintage paper moths (colouring and sticking activity)
🌼 Weave a flower meadow, using a natural stick/jute string base and dried flowers

Children will learn about the importance of moths, as pollinating insects and the flowers they visit. Contributing to the conservation of these secretive species.

It’s a lovely session for any children that love getting creative! Children will need an adult with them for the duration of the course.

£25 per child. 15 spaces per session.

Our cheese toasties are starting to pick up quite the reputation 🧀. Creating this particular oozie snack, with an impressive cheese pull, took awhile to get right before launch and is something we are constantly refining.

It's always wonderful to read through the kind words that customers leave about our toasties and see them being enjoyed so much. Thank you 🙏

Nettlebed Creamery

There is a saying in farming that you ‘get big, get different or get out’. Farming is no longer an industry where you can plough on as you always have. We decided to get different.

My grandfather started our dairy in 1950 and it converted to being organic in 2001. It felt like a crying shame that this beautiful organic milk was being hauled away and mixed with the milk of many other farms before it was dispersed into the market. We thought that the animals, and their milk, deserved greater appreciation and so we set about creating Nettlebed Creamery.

I founded the business in 2015 and it has since won many awards, including Super Gold at the World Cheese Awards, and Best Organic Cheese and Best Soft White at the British Cheese Awards. I received the Sue Ryder Women of the Year Achievement Award for Best Business in 2020. As well as our three cheeses, Bix, Highmoor and Witheridge, we also sell unhomogenised organic milk, organic kefir and cultured butter.

We are very proud of the partnerships we have with the local community, notably with Style Acre, a charity providing support for young people with learning disabilities, and HMP Huntercombe. As part of their rehabilitation programme of appropriate candidates, we provide employment for up to three offenders.
