Setting Meaningful Prices
💸 Ever wondered how to set prices that really mean something?
📈 Prices that reflect your expenditure and salary needs?
🧚♀ Prices that are fair to both you and your patients?
PLAY THIS VIDEO FROM 12:55 MINUTES IN FOR A CLEAR FORMULA!
As new practice owners it can feel like setting prices is just a guessing game. Often we base these vital decisions on gut feelings and a quick nosey at what the competition is charging. Even experienced practice owners struggle to know how to charge their worth, while respecting their patients.
Having moved into private practice from the NHS, I found this particularly difficult and it's taken me years to develop this simple formula to take the stress out of setting prices with meaning.
If you're starting your first Private Podiatry Practice and you'd like it to grow quickly without taking over your entire life, I've got all the tips and tricks you need to catapault you through your first year of business. 👣 Setting the Right Prices from Day 1: A Key to Success in Podiatry Practice 👣
As a mentor to new podiatry practice owners, I often stress the importance of setting meaningful prices from the very beginning. Your pricing strategy can significantly impact your practice's growth and sustainability. Here are a few tips to consider:
1️⃣ Know Your Costs: Calculate all your overhead expenses, including rent, utilities, equipment, and staff salaries if relevant. Understanding your costs is crucial for determining a baseline for your pricing.
2️⃣ Market Research: Research what other podiatrists in your area are charging for similar services. This will give you a competitive benchmark to work with, but do not allow this to sway you too much. Your prices should reflect your expenses and services, not those of your colleague down the road!
3️⃣ Value-Based Pricing: Consider the value you provide to your patients. Are you offering specialised treatments or exceptional patient care? Your prices should reflect the quality of your services.
4️⃣ Pricing Transparency: Be transparent with your patients about your pricing. This builds trust and helps patients make informed decisions. But be thoughtful about what stage you share your prices. If you share too soon, on the front page of your website, this may put patients off before they've had chance to learn about the value behind your services.
Remember, your pricing strategy should align with your long-term goals and the unique value you bring to your patients.
Setting meaningful prices from day one is a foundation for a successful podiatry practice, but it can be one of the hardest things to do. If you need more guidance, book a call with me. I help Podiatrists to plan, launch and grow their first Podiatry practice.

🚀 The 3 Pillars of a Successful Podiatry Practice 🚀
Hello to all podiatrists interested in starting a Private Practice! 🦶
Setting up a podiatry practice is about more than just finding a space and seeing patients. It’s about creating a business that thrives, enriches your life, and serves your patients exceptionally well. Here are the three foundational pillars to consider:
>>> Patient-Centric Approach:
It's not just about treating feet, it's about understanding the person attached to them. Offering personalized care, active listening, and a carefully designed care plan can set you apart. Communicating well both in person, on the phone and by email, so that your patients are wowed with every contact.
>>>Effective Marketing & Branding:
Your brand speaks volumes. From your logo to your patient testimonials, every detail matters. Leverage social media, engage with your community, and showcase what makes your practice unique. Ensure your brand voice is consistent and wows every time. Don't know what brand voice is? It's an incredibly powerful tool for communicating with your patients at all levels. Give me a shout if you'd like to understand more about how Podiatry Practice owners can use it to build the dream.
>>>Operational Excellence:
Streamline your appointment process, invest in efficient software, and train yourself and your team if you have one, to offer consistent and superior service. A smooth-running practice translates to happy patients.
Starting a practice is a journey, and like all journeys, it's easier with a guide. Whether you're struggling with the business side or just need clarity on your vision, remember you're not alone.

Building a Podiatry Practice?! Let's talk about your Digital Presence 🌐
It’s the digital age. Before a patient steps into your clinic, they’ve likely “met” you online. Your website isn't just a digital address; it's your online consulting room. It the place your patients begin to get to know you and your approach to care. You website must be professional, user-friendly, and informative, but it should also show you patients who you are and what you practice stands for.
But it doesn't stop there. Engaging with potential patients via social media, sharing insights, health tips, and patient testimonials, offers another window into what an appointment with you might be like. It gives potential patients a way of assessing whether the values of you practice match their expectations. So when you share posts, ensure the messaging in both wording, graphics and images is in line with your values and vision.
Consider a blog where you address common podiatric concerns, dispelling myths and offering advice. This can be a particularly useful way of connecting to a particular community, for example the running community and can be used to build relationships with local running clubs, by offering a valuable resource to their members. Don't let blogs sit forgotten on your website, share them with the intended audience.
A strong digital presence not only showcases your expertise, but also builds trust even before the first consultation and calls to your ideal patient. Remember, in the online world, your digital handshake is as crucial as the real one! 💻

Investing in the Right Equipment for Your Practice
Diving into the world of private podiatry practice? Ensuring you have the right equipment from day one is paramount.
🔧 Essentials First: Start with the basics. Invest in quality treatment beds, sterilisation equipment, and diagnostic tools. Remember, quality doesn't always mean the most expensive – do your research and look for second hand sales of good equipment. Try the Podiatry Sales and Wants Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1891597101072663
🔬 Stay Updated with Technology: The equipment available for use by Podiatrists is constantly evolving. Tools like digital foot scanners, shockwave therapy or Swift devices can provide added value and differentiate your services. But they may not be right for practices only just starting out.
💡 Maintenance is Key: Regularly check, clean, and maintain your equipment. The longevity and efficiency of your tools can impact your service quality and patient trust.
In the end, the right equipment not only enhances your practice's efficiency but also underscores your commitment to excellence. 🌟

Dreaming of Opening Your First Podiatry Practice: Tips on Getting it Right from Day 1.
Choosing the Ideal Location for Your Podiatry Practice
Embarking on the journey of opening your private podiatry practice in the UK? The first hurdle you'll often face is finding the perfect location. The right setting can make a significant difference in attracting patients and ensuring long-term success.
1️⃣ Demographics: Understand the population you want to serve. A retiree-heavy location might provide a steady stream of elder foot care patients, while an area with many athletes might focus on sports podiatry.
2️⃣ Visibility and Accessibility: Busy streets or locations close to gyms, fitness centres, or health facilities might be advantageous. Think about parking and public transport options too.
3️⃣ Competition Analysis: Identify if there are other podiatry practices nearby. While some competition can validate the market, too many might saturate it.
Remember, while location is paramount, it's your vision, expertise and rapport with patients that will truly set you apart.

Navigating the Realities of Running a Home-based Podiatry Practice 🏡🦶
Hello budding Podiatry Practice Owners!
In 2019 I opened my first Podiatry practice in this garden room, a short hop, skip and a jump away from the home I share with my husband and two children. Opening a home-based practice was a great decision for me; it enabled me to be at home more while my children were very young and later helped to catapult me to the next stage of my career; owning an MDT city centre practice.
Taking the leap to start your own podiatry practice is commendable, and considering a home-based practice can be both exciting and efficient. However, as with any business model, there are unique realities to be mindful of:
1️⃣ Boundaries are Crucial: Establishing clear divisions between your professional and personal space is paramount. Ensure you have a dedicated workspace to maintain a work-life balance and ensure patient privacy.
2️⃣ Rules & Regulations: Even at home, your practice must adhere to all health and safety regulations. It's essential to stay updated with requirements and ensure compliance at all times. Tip!: Don't forget to consider if there are any planning permission issues and check with your home insurance company that they are happy to continue to cover you with members of the public coming onto the property.
3️⃣ Professional Image: While home clinics are increasingly accepted, maintaining a professional image is vital. Maintain both a professional persona and clinic space. Keep your space tidy, and ensure patients feel as if they're walking into a dedicated clinic, not your living room with a fold out treatment couch!
4️⃣ Flexibility vs. Overwork: One of the advantages of a home setup is flexibility. But, this can easily blur into long hours. Set clear working hours, communicate them to your patients, and most importantly... stick to them!
Starting a home-based podiatry practice can be immensely rewarding. With the right preparation, awareness, and ongoing commitment, it's a model that can thrive.
