Hi I’m Carrie the founder and creative director of Carrie Elspeth jewellery which I started in 1999 with help from the Princes Trust. I don’t often post pictures of myself on socials as I am actually quiet shy but International Women’s Day is the perfect day to say ‘Hi’ and tell you a little bit about me 😊
I can trace my inspiration for running my own business as far back as when I was a little girl visiting bead shops in London pouring over all the colourful glass beads and other treasures. Fast forward to 1997 and after completing a degree in Art History I spent a year travelling around Thailand, Australia and New Zealand in a little camper van with my then boyfriend Steve (now husband of 20 years with 3 children!). I took inspiration from the places I visited and the people I met, some of which had run their own successful businesses themselves. I knew that when I got home that I was going to start my own business and that’s just what I did.
Drawing on my love of colour, something my creative parents had certainly encouraged, I designed jewellery that I hoped would put a smile on people’s faces. It was as important then as it is today that my jewellery was made to a very high standard, and that it was all made in Wales 🏴
Over the years I have won several accolades for my jewellery including Welsh Woman of the year for design, world young business achiever, and several “Gift of the Year” awards. (I am blushing whilst typing this! ☺️) Perhaps the pinnacle was when I was invited to Buckingham Palace for a reception with the Queen to celebrate British Design 👑
So to wrap this up on a personal level I am so grateful to all the inspirational women around me from the team in the studio who work so hard, the awesome ladies making all the jewellery we sell, our wonderful female sales agents, and the companies that supply us run, owned or staffed by women from all around the world 🌎 All of our lovely retailers and of course the women we make jewellery for. You’re smashing it girls, you keep the world turning and from the bottom of my heart I thank each and every one of you! 💕
To celebrate I’m giving you all 25% off my favourite designs for 24hrs 🥰
