The spotlight was on the future of farming last week at the NFU Conference in Birmingham. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced new farming support measures designed to propel the sector into a future of sustainable growth.

Key takeaways include a significant uplift in grant funding - a leap from £91m to around £220m, steering the government's commitment to a £2.4bn spend for this Parliament. Additionally, steps are being taken to ease planning red tape, and funds are earmarked for energy-efficient initiatives like rooftop solar, while bolstering on-farm processing, packing, and retailing.
