Hens and Furry Friends

Lovely to see lots of our customers returning this summer and great to see many new little furry and feathered faces coming to stay with us for their first Hens and Furry Friends holiday 😊.

Here’s a little collection of photos of a few of our feathered and furry friends currently staying at Hens and Furry Friends – the first of many booked in for their summer holidays.

Looking forward to welcoming back many more of our regulars over the coming, busy months along with lots of new Guinea Pigs, Rabbits, Hens and who knows what else enjoying their first stays with us.

Thank you to all of our customers for your patience and understanding whilst we have been carrying out our annual maintenance and had reduced capacity/availability. Hopefully not too many of you were inconvenienced.

We’re now back to full capacity and booking up fast for the summer holidays. Currently, we have no availability 22nd July through to 1st August; and limited availability in other weeks, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

We hope that your girls are enjoying some quality free range time now that Avian Flu restrictions have been lifted 😁 ... here's a picture of one of the beautiful girls here enjoying a sunny afternoon outside.

Another busy summer, so apologies to all of our customers who didn’t get to see their girls (or furry boys) on our pages over the last month or so, as it has been incredibly busy.

Here’s a little montage of some of our feathered and furry friends who stayed with us over the last month or so to make up for it – hopefully if we didn’t post whilst they were staying with us, they may be in this little montage, but if not, please let us know as we may have grabbed a picture (or two) of them that we can share😊.

Well, what a fabulous start to the first few weeks of August here at Hens and Furry Friends 😊. We have lots of lovely guests staying at the moment – making it impossible to choose just one guest of the month!!

So, instead, here’s just a few pictures of some of our lovely guests – many of whom are bobbing for cored, sliced, diced and iced apple, and cucumber.

Also, a picture of one of our lovely furry friend guests (Thunder) eating his Kale and Spinach in the shade.

Well, the “guest of the week” prize goes to Margaret for:

a) not only finally working out with her sister that sleeping in the coop is much snugger and nicer than perched outside, but also

b) this fantastic, rather large egg – weighing in at a pretty decent 116g, pipping her sister, Maggie’s egg to the left, by a quite a few grams (well ... by 15g).

Both were somewhat larger than the bantam eggs we had only the other week (pictured next to some more regular / medium sized eggs!) 😉

After another fabulous weekend re-homing hens for Fresh Start for Hens, it’s a thorough jet wash, clean, re-stock (and grass cut) and we’re back ready for our next holiday guests.

We’ve also just finished stage two of our furry friends refurbishment, with increased capacity to take more furry friends housed in our orchard area of the garden. We've added some fabulous Omlet Eglu Go’s complete with Zippi tunnel with lots of enrichments to be added in once our guests arrive and also some Omlet Eglu Classics to house Rabbits and Guinea Pigs.

The final stage is our under-cover area – for those days when outside play just isn’t as appealing to our guests, but they still want to have a good play 😊

Just taken delivery of our first Omlet Cube MK2 to add to our suite of MK1’s and growing hen house accommodation 😊

Fortunately, it didn’t take long to assemble for the team yesterday, given we previously assembled one for our local primary school last year.

It’s now nestling alongside our other hen holiday homes and is almost ready (just one more cover to add) for its first residents due in tomorrow.
