It’s back to school for many people this week, and it’s back to school for our team too!

As part of our continuing professional development, we have booked and paid for four of our team to do their ISA Level 2 in Arboriculture. These guys will be having college classes for a day a week for the next six weeks to help them learn more about tree biology and how to care for trees.

This is a Giant Redwood in Redbourn, near St Albans. The tree had to be removed as an independent surveyor had deemed it unsafe with potential for failure, meaning that it could easy fall down and cause huge amounts of damage to the neighbouring homes, boundary walls and other trees.

Longacre is a family run business so whilst the team were out maintaining Hertfordshire's trees recently, Martin's Mum and daughter found a swarm of bees. Martin's Mum is a bee keeper, so she added the stray swarm to one of the empty hives which she keeps!

This huge Sycamore had to be taken down by the team recently. There were lots of obstacles to navigate on this job which is why we ensure our staff are fully trained for every eventuality. All of the team are qualified in rigging and we all hold our NPTC 21-09 CS41 Level 3 Award in Aerial Tree Rigging. This assures the Local Authority that the right training has be implemented for our staff to take down a tree like this and not cause any damage.

Did you know that it can be difficult to detect if a large, established tree has any issues. We had to climb this Lime and check some suspicious cavities out - amazing what you can’t see from the ground! If you are concerned about trees on your property then we can carry out climbing inspections and provide a report.
