Due to the sudden closure of Toni & Guy Hertford I am announcing the news that my business will be relocating to a new location.

LETS CELEBRATE BEING MENOPAUSAL ON “ WORLD MENOPAUSE DAY “ 🙋🏼‍♀️

What is Menopause?

Menopause is a natural transition, and a normal part of ageing that marks the end of having menstrual cycles. Generally, most people will begin the transition between the ages of 45 and 55, though factors other than age can influence the process. During the time leading up to menopause, lots of uncomfortable physical symptoms may be experienced. These effects can wreak havoc on the body, particularly the skin.

(1) Perimenopause
Perimenopause generally lasts between 3 and 5 years, however, there is no one way to experience menopause, so the timing may differ. For some, this stage is the most difficult to deal with due to sudden hormone fluctuations and the occurrence of very regular or very irregular periods.

Perimenopause & The Skin……
As oestrogen levels shift during this stage, the skin has more trouble retaining ceramides and locking in moisture. Therefore, it is common to experience dry skin, redness, sensitivity, breakouts, itching and flaking.

(2) Menopause
The menopause stage can be diagnosed when it has been 12 months since a menstrual period. Around 25% of collagen will have been lost from the skin at this point, and the dramatic decrease will influence the appearance of the skin.

Menopause & The Skin……
12 months after the last period, skin is duller, thinner, less supple and crepey in texture. Due to the collagen loss, fine lines and wrinkles and sagging around the eyes, mouth, neck and cheeks may be prominent. The lack of oestrogen may also cause increased hair growth on the face.

Two reasons it’s a good time for hair removal…….

1. Avoid sun exposure. It takes time to get rid of unwanted hair and needs to be performed when the skin is pale. If you decide you want IPL to rid you of unwanted hair just as summer is arriving, you will be too late. You won't be able to avoid sun exposure which is recommended for light treatments. Direct sunlight can result in hyper/hypopigmentation or other skin damage.

2. Fit all treatments in by next summer. IPL treatments have to be spaced apart. You can have one treatment every four to six weeks. A full treatment course may include 6-10 treatments. By planning ahead and starting early you will be hair-free by summer.

Impressive result after 1 IPL treatment 🤩

My client had quite a large patch of pigmentation under her left eye, this had been there for a few years.
After a thorough consultation and patch test she came for 1 treatment and most of the pigment has gone!! 👏🏼
She has had another treatment to treat the rest of the area.
With very little discomfort during the treatment and only a few days to a week of downtime ( a scab should form ) she is absolutely over the moon with the result so far, I have to say I was thrilled when she came in to the clinic and saw her skin after only 1 session 🙋🏼‍♀️
