Delighted to announce that I have been selected for Shine 2021! @gsmithscentre I'm one of 13 up and coming UK designer makers are to presenting our new collections at Shine 2021, the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s new talent showcase in jewellery and silversmithing. The rigorous and anonymised selection process, which followed an open submission opportunity, was headed by guest judges communications specialist, Nyasha Daley, Shine 2019 exhibitor and jeweller, Ella Fearon-Low and Rachael Taylor, Journalist and Founder of the Jewellery Cut. To prepare for Shine 2021, the we have been receiving business skills training from the Goldsmiths’ Centre to build our confidence and learn how to best present our work in person and online. What a fantastic few days with Miriam Hanid learning to engrave! I've been dying to try engraving for a while now so I can apply it to my work. I thought it would be really stressful and difficult but Miriam is such a great teacher! After a messy start, I got the hang of it and found it really relaxing and surprisingly addictive. All engraved from a flat sheet of Britannia silver, I've engraved straight lines so they catch the light at different angles to give a 3d illusion effect.
