Recently we have received reports of two males posing as Gentoo workers in the Pennywell area.

Scams can be difficult to recognise, so we are encouraging all our customers to remain vigilant when receiving text messages, emails and phone calls.

We would like to remind everyone that our tradespeople, and sub-contractors working on behalf of Gentoo, will always carry identification.

Please remember:
🔸 Never give your bank details out over the phone
🔸 Always ask to see an ID card before letting anyone into your property
🔸 If the call seems suspicious, please hang up and call us on 0191 525 5000.

We understand the recent Go North East bus strikes will be preventing many people in the city from getting around.

Although normal service has not yet resumed, Go North East have launched a skeleton service Monday - Friday from 9:30am to 2:30pm on 13 routes across Gateshead, Sunderland and County Durham.

Age UK Sunderland are also providing a discounted 'Dial - a - Driver' service to help residents over 60 in Sunderland attend non-urgent appointments.

⚠️Telecare scam alert ⚠️

We've been alerted to a scam where people with Telecare services in place are being phoned and told that their current provider is no longer in business, or that they need to pay to keep their service.

The caller claims to be from the new provider and they ask for bank details to set up a new direct debit.

Sunderland Care and Support and other providers of telecare services will never cold call and ask for bank details in such a way.
