Houghton le spring play group

Woke up this morning to two 🦋 ( one on the lid and one on the net sides). Will there be more tomorrow?

This week see how much they have grown and are getting ready to form chrysalides. Can't wait for next week - butterflies 🦋 maybe?. To encourage them we created some butterfly paintings.

We welcomed some little visitors last week and enjoyed some minibeast activities. We are also invited to celebrate '30 Days Wild' with nature based activities to do at home throughout June.

Not as impressive as yours Kiera Sudlow but getting there 😄. Hardening off ready for planting outside.

This morning we welcomed summer 😂 by creating flower wreaths at the craft table and using beads to make flowers on the lightbox. We also began a minibeast theme and welcomed back some visitors and older siblings. It is lovely to see everyone again.

Don’t forget we’re open today. Siblings of all ages welcome to come along.

(Grasshoppers the game we had to buy when my eldest went to toddlers. 2 more children and it’s still called the playgroup game!)

Lots of fun this morning planting sunflower seeds..I wonder how tall they will grow 🤔🙂

Getting ready for Red Nose Day 🤡🥳

We were joined today by the tiger who came to tea, Incey Wincy Spider, Spider girl and Mirabel. We had a snakes and ladders type story book themed game, the three little pigs puppet theatre and the Hungry Caterpillar potato printing which quickly became child-led exploration of paint texture and hand printing 😄.

Can't wait for World Book Day tomorrow!! If you want to dress up as your favourite book character or wear a themed t-shirt we would love to see your ideas, but no pressure 🙂 - we just love to see you🥰.

Thank you to everyone for a lovely session this morning. We explored some storytelling language and sequencing, had fun in the home corner with friends, explored patterns in the playdough and had fun on the farm. A busy morning!

Lovely session today. We celebrated Australia Day ( tomorrow, who knew?) by exploring aboriginal art patterns and creating some of our own with finger painting or cotton buds. We also tasted Marmite on toast!
