We've just welcomed two new additions to our gear family: two matched preamps assembled onsite by studio manager, Steve Longbottom.

The AML ez1084s are based on the legendary Neve 1073 preamps with built-in EQ and genuine Carnhill transformers and inductors.

They're wired into our new 500 series lunchbox along with our other choice preamps, ready to be used on your releases! Check out the specs here:

WE’RE LOOKING FOR A STUDIO ENGINEER

Unfortunately for us Paddy is moving back down south and has therefore left some big shoes to fill at Vibes.
He’s been a real asset to the team and he’ll be truly missed!

This opens up the rare opportunity for someone new to join us here at the studio. We’re only a small team and previous employees have really helped to shape the business.

We feel like this job could be suited to an engineer who may be currently working from a home or project studio environment, that wants to step up into a purpose built studio with access to more equipment. We’re open to options on how to take Vibes forward over the coming years so we are looking forward to seeing what others can add to the business.

What we’re looking for:
-Great interpersonal skills
-Experienced studio engineer
-Live sound engineer
-Video editing skills
-Flexible working, unsociable hours etc
-Driving Licence (Not a deal breaker, would just be handy)

We know this is quite a greedy list and we’ve been quite spoilt by Paddy so this may end up being more than one job role or involve people working freelance from the space, just depends who’s out there!

The Sound Skulptor MP573 is a replica of the Neve 1073 preamp. This pre probably has the most colour out of all our units, certainly after driving the input. It has a nice round bottom-end, and sounds great on a kick drum captured by a Neumann U47.

This particular unit is also extra special as it was bought as a kit, and assembled & soldiered by Steve!

Had an awesome time at Focus Fest this year! Getting to mix some incredible bands and work with the Focus4Hope team was an absolute pleasure! Looking forward to next year already.

LONG ISLAND came in to do a video shoot with us recently, can't wait for the result!

We've practically had saxophonist Chris Jolly living with us over the last couple of weeks recording some new jazz compositions of his as well as modern saxophone quartet pieces - what a treat!

Did a great recording with Anthony Beckwith, laying down some keys with our Yamaha U1. The Coles 4038's always work so well for this!

Tracked drums with LONG ISLAND for two great new tracks the other day. MD421s sounding great on toms as usual!

Tracking guitars the other day using a Fender Twin into a Matamp 2x12, and captured with a Coles 4038 and Neumann U47. Balancing the dark and bright frequency responses always achieves a fantastic tone!
