One question that always seems to baffle our customers...

"Why have you quoted for 5kwp worth of panels but only specified a 3.6kw inverter, surely it will be wasting 1.4kw's!"

Oversizing is common and makes a lot of sense especially in our UK climate

SolarEdge have long been the #1 when it comes to DC oversizing capability (200%) but the new generation Givenergy Inverter has just overtaken them with the 3.6kw inverter allowing a maximum DC input of a massive 15kw! (we even had to check with them to make sure it was not a typo!)

Finished the week working on a 16 Panel 'All Black' system with a 5KW Inverter & 9.5KWH Battery in Bradford with stunning views in the sunshine!

The single most expensive piece of equipment in most installations is the battery, getting the size right for your needs can make a huge difference to the success of your installation overall.

Find your electricity bill for a basic way to work out what battery size you need. Look for your annual estimated usage e.g. 2750kwh (UK average) divide it by 365 days in a year = 7.5kwh Required Battery Capacity.

Charging your battery off peak on tariff's such as Octopus Go, can save you money even on the foggiest of days!

We always suggest you could lower this figure slightly if you have solar panels as they will help top up the battery. Without solar panels we suggest you go higher than this figure.

Remember households typical use more electricity in the winter than the summer.

Top tip, the more electricity you can use in off peak hours, the smaller battery you will require!

Have you heard about Solar Panel Optimisers? Not sure what they are, or how they work?

Imagine your string of solar panels is a line of cars going down the road, all your solar panels can only go as fast as your slowest car, therefore one slow (or shaded!) panel can slow down all the rest!

Put it simply, optimisers, allow all your panels to perform independently, each offering the best performance they can!

They can also increase the safety of your system too!
