I'm delighted to announce the next artist that will be joining the line up of our Marsden Americana & Bluegrass Day, a midsummer extravaganza of Americana, bluegrass & folk-roots - Canadian singer, songwriter, guitarist and banjoist Cara Luft! 🎶🪕Hailing from Alberta, Cara is well known for her work with The Small Glories and The Wailin' Jennys as well as her solo career.

A talented instrumentalist and powerful singer, JUNO award winning Cara has a well-deserved reputation as one of Canadian folk music’s finest live performers, with an engaging, down-home style and a delicious sense of humour. A co-founder of popular folk trio The Wailin’ Jennys, after leaving that band in 2004 Cara toured widely as a solo performer, releasing several solo albums and wowing audiences across North America and Europe. In 2012 she started performing with fellow Canadian singer-songwriter JD Edwards, forming The Small Glories shortly thereafter. Over the last decade, that duo became a much loved fixture on the Americana and folk circuit (including a truly sensational Sheffield gig that I hosted back in 2018). The Small Glories released two highly rated albums and two EPs, and toured around the world, winning Folk Alliance International’s Folk Artist of the Year Award in 2020. 🥳

Born into a folk singing family, Cara was steeped in folk and traditional music almost from birth. Yet like all the finest artists, she has always had a tendency to fearlessly bend and stretch style and genre boundaries. The Small Glories’ decision to take a hiatus in 2024 has provided Cara with another opportunity for new adventures, collaborations and connections. We are delighted that she will be bringing her musical and personal magic to our mini fest in Marsden, Huddersfield on 22nd June. 😍

Banjo artistry at it’s absolute best! We were privileged to witness the extraordinary talent of banjo virtuoso at our event last Saturday. Dan’s performance created a shared moment of pure admiration for the banjo and its incredible potential! Thank you for being a special part of our 20th Anniversary celebrations ✨

We are still basking in the glow of the wonderful performance delivered by at our anniversary event this past Saturday. This marked the first time Ashley Campbell and Thor Jensen graced our stage, and they certainly left an indelible mark on our hearts. We were treated to tunes from their fabulous new album, ‘Turtle Cottage’, each note resonated with a blend of skill, emotion and storytelling.

also ran a Banjo Workshop at the event, giving valuable insights into the artistry of the banjo!
We would like to express our gratitude not only for the remarkable performance but also for the warm and engaging presence Ashley and Thor brought to our event! ❤️
