Practicing what I preach! Trying to improve my technique on an exercise that challenges me. We all love doing exercises that are within our comfort zone, but it’s the ones that aren’t in that zone that we should be doing!! I’m giving myself my own medicine 😂

I know this is not the full version of cat walk over as my hips and the ceiling don’t allow for that!! I love the chest opening I get from this exercise so it’s completely worth it, and the hip stretch is pretty juicy also. Do you film your technique? I try and work as somatically as possible, and you can see that I self correct myself many times during this exercise, but sometimes what I feel and what I see don’t marry up. I was working on extending my spine in my side bend, it felt like I was doing that, but my filming suggests otherwise. I was working on straightening my legs on my side bend, and again I clearly didn’t achieve that. There are many things that my filming showed up that my self awareness didn’t. Filming technique offers a different perspective, very similar to a personal trainer offering a pair of eyes to spot you, which then allows for more self correction. Overtime you get a better first person experience of the movement by having the third person perspective!!

Playing with plank flows in this weeks classes! Very challenging at the end when going into balance, but fun to laugh at myself trying 😆😆😆. Our classes range from beginner to intermediate level, so we have a version of plank to suit everybody!! It’s such a great full body exercise!! Loved teaching these guys today!! We played around with using the tower in combination with the reformer! It was fun to teach, and I think they looked to be having fun 🤔🤔. These guys are demonstrating great control of the springs. This is tough to do when the springs are pulling on you from both ends. Well done 👏 😊

I love this exercise for thoracic mobility. It allows me to pinpoint the vertebrae’s that I want to mobilise, and my bottom muscles get a good workout too 😊. Shoulder stand on the ladder barrel. Very wobbly, and definitely a work in progress, but there was a time when this movement wasn’t available to me, so I’m happy 😃. Rotation can be one of my favourite things to do, or one of my least favourite things to do, but today it felt good! There’s nothing better than a Saturday stretch!! The pilates apparatus we have at LBP is amazing for getting more out of your stretches. This is a yummy stretch for the spine, and really helps to improve the mobility of the rib cage part of the spine (thoracic). If I’ve taught it to you this week then you know how yummy it is!!

My shoulders are feeling tight at the moment, and my spine less mobile than usual, so I’m loving this version of semi circle. It eliminates the flexibility needed through the shoulders and allows me to work on spinal articulation. Yummy!!
