Eurovision Night
For those of you looking to play bowls outdoors in the summer, several local clubs such as Buckhurst Hill, are holding taster sessions.

If you weren’t at the Club on Wednesday, you missed a fantastic afternoon of top class indoor bowls and football banter which was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants.
Ilford and District Indoor Bowls Club held its first ever Charity Football Bowls Competition.
Members were asked to play for one of the 4 of the most supported clubs, namely Arsenal, Leyton Orient, Tottenham Hotspurs and West Ham and every team was oversubscribed. Each football club had two squads of players and each squad played three games each against their opponents. Bonus points were awarded to a club whose teams had a better overall shot difference.
In the closest of competitions and with support and excitement running high, Arsenal won the competition by beating Spurs by the narrowest margin of just one shot overall, winning the magnificent Brian Yershon Silver (well silver coloured) trophy which was presented to the Arsenal Team Captain, the mighty Mark Newman, by Ilford Club Secretary Alan Jaye.
West Ham narrowly came third and the wooden spoon went to the O’s?
Not one red or yellow card was issued throughout although Orient player Steve Klein, came the closest.
Organized by Brian Yershon, himself a massive Arsenal fan, and assisted by Alan Jaye and Bob Hayter, the competition raised money for our charity Tracy’s Trust.
We hope this will be an annual event as given the noise, banter and rivalry from usually quiet and refined and gentle bowlers, there is certainly a call for a revenge fixture.
The club are proud to help sponsor Colin Milner, a member of the Disability Bowls England squad, due to play in South Africa in the summer of 2024
Congratulations to Mark Newman , Wendy Gray, Sandra Dupuy and Brian Powell, for winning our annual Gala for the third time in a row in a fantastic nail-biting final.
Thanks also to all teams who took part, all the volunteers on the day and to our main sponsors, Lexus Woodford and the Remedy Recruitment Group.
We are delighted to announce that Bowlswear Direct will be attending our Gala Event on
Saturday the 10th February between 10:00 and 2:00 pm at

Perrymans Farm Road, Newbury Park Ilford Essex, IG2 7LX

If anyone thinks bowls is a game for old folk, think again! However, the question is, how do we at IIBC attract young member? 🤔
The future of the game.
It's in good hands...
We hope you are enjoying the summer despite the unseasonal weather conditions.
Just a reminder to members and visitors, we at Ilford Indoor Bowls Club are closed for the summer and reopen for roll ups ( practice sessions) on the 18th September from 10:30 onwards. The league season starts on the 26th September. Full details and fixtures will be available when the handbooks are ready for distribution towards the end of August.
If you are not already a Club member and would like to try out indoor bowls or arrange some coaching, please email us at [email protected] with your name, contact email and telephone number and one of our admin team will get back to you.
If you are already a member and have a friend or relative who would like to have a go, again email at [email protected].
Indoor bowls is played the same way as the outdoor game but is very different and requires a different skill set so sometimes even experienced outdoor bowlers struggle to play to their outdoor standard.
We at Ilford pride ourselves as being the friendliest and most welcoming indoor clubs in Essex and East London. It’s a great place to play and/or just to socialise with friends and fellow bowlers. There are plenty of opportunities to play at whatever level you are or wish to achieve from raw beginners to County or even National standard.
So come and give it a go. All you need to start with is a pair of completely flat soled shoes (to protect the playing surface). We will provide the bowls until you are ready to buy your own.
We are situated at the far end of Perrymans Farm Road, Newbury Park, Ilford, Essex, IG2 7LX next to Oak Park secondary school.
We look forward to seeing you in September .

Dear Member
RE IIBC RACE NIGHT – 11th March 2023
You are no doubt aware that we are holding a race night on Saturday 11th March 2023 and this event was sold out within days.
However, to make this event successful, we need to sell owners and jockeys. You do not have to attend the event to purchase these. We have a list at the bar where you can select your chosen horse and jockey and if your horse or jockey wins you will win a cash prize based on the profits taken on the night. The more we sell, the greater the prizes.
Please select your owner or jockey NOW. To become an owner will cost you £8.00 and to sponsor a jockey just £5.00.
Please support the club by signing up and buying your owner or jockey, at the bar.
Many thanks
Alan
Wishing our members, sponsors and many supporters and friends, a very happy, healthy and peaceful new year.

Well after todays announcement from the Bank of England , there is something very very very wrong in the system...
So... let me get this straight:
* British Gas made a profit of £1.3bn between January & June
* BP announced profits of £6.95 billion between April and June alone
* Shell has profited by £9.4bn in a year
The MEN at the top:
* John Pettigrew, boss of National Grid received £6.5m bonus on top of his salary
* Chris O’Shea, chief executive of British Gas owner Centrica was paid almost £2m last year in salary and benefits
* Centrica's non-executive directors were paid almost £1m
* Scottish Power's CEO Keith Anderson is on £1.15m.
* E.On boss Michael Lewis is on £1m
* EDF's Simone Rossi is also on £1m
* And their top execs enjoyed a share of £4.65m
* Peter Simpson of Anglian Water earned a £1.3m pay package
* Welsh Water bosses awarded themselves bonuses of over £930,000
* Severn Trent bosses awarded themselves bonuses of £5.56m
* Thames Water's Sarah Bentley, received a £727,000 bonus on top of her £2m annual salary
Meanwhile there are...
* People who haven't had breakfast and/or lunch TODAY, because they can't afford it.
* People using FoodBanks because food is becoming more of a luxury than a necessity.
* Children celebrating a birthday without presents.
* Parents worrying about new school uniforms - and some schools enforcing rules which are not cost-effective.
* People who can't get to work because they can't afford to put petrol in their cars/pay for public transport anymore.
* People who are working so much they're making themselves ill, and they STILL CAN'T AFFORD to pay their bills.
* People who have been given fines by these same energy/water companies because they couldn't afford to pay their bills in the first place - increasing their debt.
* Customers being told to do STAR JUMPS TO KEEP WARM for crying out loud!
* Hose pipe bans when gallons of water leak away everyday.
* Elderly people NOT DRINKING because they're worried about running out of water!!!
All this and energy prices are set to rise up to 75% in October...
THIS IS MADNESS!.. I'm all for supporting profits ..I'm not for supporting greed at the cost of lives of others..
Something needs to change..
Why are customers' money being used to make life more comfortable for those who are making life more intolerable for the rest of us?
I actually don't understand how the energy companies are allowed to get away with this and why the government aren't stopping them instead of handing out money.....
Copied & pasted from others.
Keep this going around for all to see
We are now well into August and with the outdoor season ending in September/early October, start to focus your minds on playing indoors during the long autumn and winter months.
At Ilford & District Indoor Bowls club we offer lawn bowls from the 19th September to mid April with no interuptions for weather or rain.
Members of all ages and abilities are welcome to play competitive bowls or roll ups just for practice or fun and if anyone is new to indoor bowls, we offer some basic coaching free of charge.
We are registered with DBE but wheelchair access is limited.
Situated at the end of Perryman's Farm Road in Newbury Park Ilford, there is plenty of parking available and a cost friendly bar at your disposal where you can chat with friends and colleagues over a pint or a cup of coffee and put the world to rights. Someone needs to!!!
Why sit around in the winter waiting for the outdoor season to begin again? Give us a try. You will not be sorry!
For further information please email us at [email protected] or telephone our Club Manager on 07505 171682 (Business hours only please).
We look forward to seeing you at IIBC, probably the friendliest club in the area.
