London-based community composting and crop growth company tackling food waste

So happy to see our wormery full@of@life, our compost worms, wood lice and nematodes!

And that is just what’s visible in a small section - there are thousands and thousands of microorganisms living in there, helping to break down the food waste we put in and to produce this living compost which is great for growing and great for biodiversity!

Excited to get some food waste from Spitalfields Market that we can add directly to the wormery, trialing adding chips, veg scraps and coffee grounds to see how that goes without the pre composting in the hot bin.

Dan getting excited exploring our new mushroom growing area!

Thanks team for putting up the surrounding materials and getting the growing trays (upcycled from old bins) ready!

What a beautiful transformation! 👉🏻

Our most recent collaboration with the team at involves upcycling their old bins into planters and grow trays for fruits and mushrooms!

Got our first batch of compost lined up and ready to use in these waste free planters. Can’t wait to get growing in them.

Thanks to for your continued support and for sharing our passion for minmising waste!

Nematodes in our compost! We love to see them!

Huge thanks to for testing our compost and chatting with such enthusiasm and detail about our results with us. The composting world is such a collaborative one, both in a literal sense regarding all the living things that work together to actually break material down but also in the sense of the humans who compost and use living compost to tackle food waste, grow healthy food and boost soil health and all the other that things that composting can achieve!

Some of the life in our compost - water bear!

So pleased to see that our method for composting food waste is yielding the results we want - living compost, which is so much better for plant health, human health and ecosystem health ❤️

Meet the team, final part.

Possibly our most important team member - our worms.

As they munch through the food waste we process the break it down and combine it with beneficial microbes from their gut. This helps to create living compost which is much healthier and supports the growth of healthier plants as well as being a foundation for increased biodiversity.

Creating soil in this way makes for much healthier growing environments, increased biodiversity and subsequently healthier humans.

All whilst learning more about and getting to spend time with a nature, what a privilege.

In the second photo you can see worm egg sacs, hopefully around 5 worms will hatch from each sac!

Meet the team pt 3…

Wormery

Capacity: 1500 liters

Compost processed: 1360 litres

Role: further break down composted food waste - the worms eat the organic matter and poo it out, in doing so they inoculate it with their beneficial gut microbes which make the nutrients in the compost more readily available for plants.

This stage is also a maturation stage, whilst in the wormery, the living organisms within the compost make it their home and reproduce, increasing the overall content of beneficial microorganisms and subsequent soil health!

Capacity: 200 liters

Food waste processed: 4 kg per week

Max temperature (to date): 72 degrees C

Role: break down food waste and cardboard & kill weeds, seeds and pathogens, much like its twin the OG Hot Bin

Worm composting:
Easy to establish in urban environments,
Low-tech,
Sustainable,
Tackles climate change,
Promotes food security,
Develops community systems,

These are just some of the reasons we think worm composting is a very good idea 🤓🪱😍

Minimise food waste by asking restaurants for a brown paper bag to take your left overs home in.

Bag too greasy to recycle with paper and card? No worries, shred it and add it to your compost pile as a valuable source of essential carbon.

Double win. Reduced greenhouse emissions from landfill and helping to replenish soil health 🌱🪱
