A fantastic picture in Dudley this week, showing plenty of track installed as part of the early stages of the Dudley Interchange!

SATEBA are proud to have supplied sleepers for Line 14, which will take people from Orly Airport to the Olympic stadium to watch or even take part in the 2024 Olympics.

The line was officially opened on Monday by Emmanuel Macron (The President of France).

Fantastic first day at Rail Live - the sun was shining and lots of interesting conversations had. Apart from talking about our low carbon, innovative sleepers and VapeRail tracking systems, one of the topics was how easy it was to get parked this year compared to last! Traffic management has been sorted - which is an added bonus.

Our colleagues at SATEBA France supplied the S312 twin block booted sleeper to this monumental project. They help reduce noise and vibration in tunnels and have been used on many key projects including on the Elizabeth Line and HS1 in the UK.

Paris RER Line E reaches Nanterre FRANCE: An 8 km largely underground extension of Paris RER Line E from Magenta-Gare du Nord to Nanterre-La Folie (Hauts de Seine) has opened.

First official visitor to SATEBA UK opens Porous Portal Production.

Earlier this week SATEBA UK welcomed our local Labour MP candidate, Dr Adam Thompson, onsite here at Stanton-By-Dale. Adam was shown around Sateba’s dedicated HS2 production facility, including our Rapid batching plant and our large infrastructure production building (known as Shed 63 because of its 63 ton capacity cranes). He also formally opened our brand new HS2 porous portal production operation, which is located in a dedicated area adjacent to Shed 63.

The visit coincided with the final testing, before production of the Porous Portals starts on Thursday the 2nd of May. This new phase of the HS2 Green Tunnel project enables Sateba to cast specially engineered tunnel segments that allow trains to enter HS2 Green Tunnels at high speed, whilst displacing air through the structure safely.

SATEBA UK is lucky to call on people who like a challenge. Combined with experience and a can do mentality, we have again been able to meet the needs of our clients – keep them coming!

Ensuring everyone works safely and goes home free from harm, is at the heart of everything we do at SATEBA!

In addition to our everyday commitment to safety we also run an annual event to bring everyone together to reinforce this message and key actions needed to keep us all safe.

We include Environment, Health and Safety as part of the event.

As part of the UK’s EHS event we have undertaken a variety of activities to promote the groups EHS strategy including:
- Re-inducting all personnel on site to reinforce site expectations, this follows numerous changes on site after the sale of drainage part of the business.
- Safety Stand Down session with a focus on areas for improvement and best practice in individual work areas.
- Focused training session on lifting operations as a key area for concern.

There has been some fantastic engagement and buy-in to these sessions, with a clear focus on EHS.

We will continue training programmes on Lifting Operations MSD and Carbon until the end of May.

SATEBA acquires the rail activities of De Bonte Group

Paris, 25th April 2024

The French independent SATEBA Group, European leader in sustainable rail infrastructure, with a turnover of circa 300 million euros, a thousand employees operating in nine countries, is stepping up its growth strategy with the acquisition of the concrete sleeper business of the Belgian De Bonte Group.

These activities represent sales of 42 million euros (in 2022), production of more than 500,000 sleepers in 2023 at four sites, two in Belgium and two in France, and employ more than 80 people.

SATEBA will take over two sites in France (Montataire and Vers-Pont-du-Gard), in addition to its three existing sites (Chalon-sur-Saône, La Riche and Charmes), which will provide greater coverage of the country, and two sites in Belgium (Laakdal and Baudour).

Through this acquisition, SATEBA aims to achieve critical mass in order to strengthen its R&D capabilities and continue to expand its range of products and services for its main customers.

Wow, just wow! Our amazing colleague Perl Moisset smashed her target of running the London Marathon in 3 hours 59 minutes, by crossing the finish line at 3:55:35! A big well done from all of us and a massive round of applause to all those who took part yesterday.

Perl has raised over £500 for her chosen charity Emmaus UK, which is a federation of UK-based charities working together to end homelessness. This can effect anyone and is often hidden when a person ends up sofa surfing between friends when there has been a breakdown in a relationship.

Perl’s raising pounds by pounding the London pavements!

With only a few days to go until the London Marathon, we’re eager to shine a light on our own Perl Moisset, who will be joining the ranks of incredible individuals enduring rigorous training and raising much needed funds for charity.

As Porous Portal Project Manager, Perl, is a key member of the team that supports this product innovation for the HS2 Green Tunnels project.

ESG sees PPE go G-G-GREEN!

SATEBA UK have joined forces with a fabulous company called the Avena Group to recycle our old PPE items including our high vis jackets, vests, trousers, gloves, hard hats and glasses.

PPE that has been damaged, contains old branding or beyond repair is shredded and the fibres are used for soundboards, insulation and geo-textiles. Any textiles that cannot be recycled are converted to pellets for refuse derived fuel.

Avena provide a secure, audited service and a Zero Waste to Landfill Promise - how good is that!
