Please note, the “I can’t believe he’s gone I miss him so much” scam is a widespread Facebook phishing scam that targets users by exploiting emotions.

The scam typically starts with a seemingly heartfelt post from a friend, stating “I can’t believe he is gone. I’m gonna miss him so much.” The post is designed to look like it comes from a trusted friend or loved one as it posted from their actual account, and it often includes a link to a news article or video related to the supposed event.

How it works :

The scammer posts from a compromised Facebook account that so it appears to be from a friend or loved one’s profile, generally tagging a handful of their contacts/friends.

The scammer posts a message saying “I can’t believe he is gone. I’m gonna miss him so much” and includes a link to a fake news article or video.

The link is designed to look like it comes from a trusted news source, such as CNN or BBC News.

When you click the link, you are taken to a copycat web page that prompts you to log in to Facebook.

Entering your login information, then allows the scammer to takeover your Facebook profile and use it to spread the same fake message to your friends and family.
