These grants will help both organisations continue their vital work in the community, supporting families and individuals in need.

Today we want to say a huge thank you to SDL Minorfern who recently funded specialist sensory equipment for the pre-operative care service at Sheffield Children’s!

The aim of the service is that every patient having general anaesthetic for a procedure or investigation will have a health screening questionnaire completed. This logs all the medical, physical, and emotional needs of that patient. A preoperative appointment helps to prepare a child safely for their operation and can help identify any areas to improve their general health before having an anaesthetic. It is also an opportunity for parents to ask any questions about the day of their child’s operation or procedure.

Since the team was introduced they have helped to reduce the number of cancelled surgeries and they have helped to reduce the anxieties for patients and families ahead of procedures.

The pre-operative service has introduced clinics for patients with additional needs, designed to reduce stress and identify any reasonable adjustments that could be made for patients when they come for their procedure.

To support these clinics the team needed sensory equipment and toys to help engage and calm patients when they are visiting their clinic.

The amazing team at SDL Minofirm donated £4,000 to help the team go above and beyond for these patients. The Charity recently welcomed Minofirm to the hospital to visit the ward and see some of the equipment in action.

We did it! Last Sunday, 19 brave challengers from SDL Minorfern completed the Tough Mudder Challenge! It was a real test of grit and determination; some moments were truly tough mentally and physically, but even in the darkest of times, there was a helping hand or shoulder to reach that next level and get through it. Everyone was aligned with togetherness, to have fun, and to make it to the finish line, but above everything cross that finish line together. We have come away with some great memories and some battle bruises all worth it for such a great cause.

Tough Mudder Challenge for The Minorfern Foundation A brave group of people from SDL Minorfern are tackling the Tough Mudder on the 7th of July 2024 in support of Fairplay and Babbington Dog Rescue via the Minorfern Foundation (working alongside Matthew Good Foundation).

A real pleasure to have visited Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS and Charity this week.

We visited Ward 8 where a £4,000 grant from the Minorfern Foundation has been helping to fund high-quality sensory equipment to create a calming atmosphere and welcoming environment.

Thank you so much to Natalie and the team for taking the time to show us around, and thank you for the inspiring work you all do every day to help patients and their families.

We are proud to announce that SDL Minorfern has partnered with Matthew Good Foundation to establish the Minorfern Foundation. The Minorfern Foundation will provide grants to small and local charities and community groups in the Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, and Yorkshire areas. The foundation was created to celebrate SDL Minorfern's 45th anniversary when we asked our employees to nominate beneficiaries. Over the last 45 years, SDL Minorfern has helped various charities and our people have taken part in supporting many causes. Now, our foundation aims to support small regional charities that are truly making a difference.

The Minorfern Foundation has received a wide range of excellent nominations from our employees for local organisations close to their hearts needing support, covering four main areas: alleviating poverty, supporting children and young people, improving health and wellbeing, and caring for animals.

We are thrilled to announce that the first two shortlisted charities to receive donations of £4,000 each are Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS and Charity and Walking 4 Hope-Charity Page

By the end of 2024, we aim to donate £40,000 and we look forward to actively contributing to these causes and creating a lasting, positive change in the regions where our business operates. Further charities and non-profits will be announced as beneficiaries of the program throughout 2024.

SDL Minorfern are getting their oven mitts out on the run up to September the 29th, for Macmillan's Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning!

Many of us here are going to be baking or bringing goodies and brewing up coffees to sell to raise money, which will go toward helping and supporting those living with cancer.
