Hi all. We shall be open from 10:30 - 4 as usual today
(Friday 12th July)
Please make use of the car park in order to keep the street clear when possible.
In light of last night’s incident we have decided to close the cafe today.
(Thursday 11th)
Inverness, July, the rain is that fine, wet stuff that soaks you through before you know it. Pure misery. Going to be tough to tempt you out of the house but I’ll give it a try as misery loves company and I’m a bit bored.
First up we have our take on a Mexican favourite, the “Sonoran Hot Dog”.
Bacon wrapped Pork Hot Dog, Cheddar and Jalapeño Pancakes (I wasn’t in the mood for making buns), Chilli Beans, Salsa Verde, Avocado, Mustard & Chilli Sauce. Served with Chips and Salad. £10
There’s also the “Bully Beef & Chips”, an open faced Roast Beef, Mustard & Fried Onion Sandwich topped with a Brie & Cheddar Cheese Sauce, served with Chunky Chips and Salad. £10
Here until four. All the best. ✊
It’s not often that I’m happy* to get up on a Monday morning and come into the cafe for deliveries. Today is different as I’m a bit excited as we have some exciting new drinks in from the good folk at Paisley Drinks Co.
We have Ginger Beer, Paisley Cola, Rhubarb Cream Soda, Strawberry Lemonade and Raspberry Lemonade.
All the drinks are made in Scotland and contain no artificial flavours, colouring, preservatives or caffeine.
It’s a far cry from the days of the Alpine or Solripe lorry doing the ginger supply drop.
Back with you on Tuesday. 🫡
*To be honest I could have probably stopped the post there, “It’s not often that I’m happy” 🤷♂️😂 Chef life pals. All the best.
Welcome to Friday, congratulations on making it through another week. May I offer you a swatch at our specials board?
Today’s soup is Thai Vegetable with Rice Noodle, we’ve got sausage rolls available and a special called “The Breakfast Belter”. It’s a home made Cheese & Onion Boule Roll filled with a Pork Breakfast Patty, Bacon, Potato Latke and a Fried Egg. Served with a side of beans. £8
We shall be closed this Wednesday (22nd May)
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
I’ve been meaning to write this post since last night but kept getting distracted.
Last night I read about the Glasgow W***y Wonka fiasco and then finished a drawing I’ve been working on. (It’s of a cooling tower, I’m developing an unhealthy obsession)
This morning I thought that I could write it on the walk to Asda but Balloan Road was surprisingly slippery so I decided to focus on putting one foot in front of another.
So here we are, I finally got around to typing it.
First up we have some Turkish Garlic Chicken Sausage skewers, served with Couscous, Hummus, homemade Flatbread, Salad and Minted Yoghurt. £9
I also made a batch of sausage rolls. These ones are Beef and Pork, Chorizo, Cheddar and Sweet Chilli. £4 on it’s own or £7 to stay with waffle fries, beans and salad.

Public Safety Alert No: 3734(a) disregard all others.
The snow is on the melt everywhere but in our car park.
It’s like that time that Jerry out of Tom & Jerry turned the fridge on high, opened the door and left the taps on.
It’s on my bucket list to do the same, one can dream.
Be careful out there.
I’m not going to suggest that you come to the freezing tundra that is Tomatin Road unless you already have to.
Now that our disclaimer is out of the way and you can’t sue us if you fall on your bum may I interest you in some soup?
It’s chicken noodle with sweetcorn and it’s like a hug in a bowl (it’s as near as you’ll get to a hug from me 😂 unless it’s New Year or I’m tipsy).
We’ve also got some white chocolate blondie, Biscoff millionaires slice and Celebrations & Party Ring slice if you feel like a sweet boost.
Be careful out there lads. 👌
Today’s special has a story… and a drawing I did, that’s how seriously I take food industry history.
From the 1970s until 1994, Wolfgang Meier’s battered Mercedes van was a welcome sight for soldiers of the British Army (BAOR) taking part in exercises in the Soltau training area, located in NW Germany.
Wolfgang’s “Bratty Van” offered Bratwurst, Frites, Zwebeln und Senf oder Mayo (Long grilled German sausage, French Fries, Onions and German Mustard or Mayonnaise) along with steaming hot coffee and cups of tea. In summer it was filled rolls, ice cream and cold drinks. There was always a good supply of Yellow Handbags too. A Yellow Handbag was a cardboard box of ten 0.33l bottles of Herforder Pils, and the box was bright yellow.
Meier’s ability to always find the overnight laagers of the troops was uncanny as they often wouldn’t know themselves until moments before. Some thought that he had to be an East German spy 😂.
Wolfgang Meier retired in 1994, the profits from the van were put into the purchase of a campground which is still in the hands of the Meier family.
Story time over, let’s get to business.
I present “Wolfgang’s Grill Shop”.
A triple deck of toast, Berliner sausage, Frankfurter sausage, smoked ham, Bavarian smoked cheese, sauerkraut, gherkins, tomato, mustard and mayo. £9.
All the best. 👌

Hello folks. Hope that you’re well.
On Tuesday the 9th of May we shall be closed for some essential maintenance and upkeep.
We’ll be open as usual on Wednesday, 10th of May.
Hello all, after a titanic battle against a belligerent printer (Canon printers really don't like ink refills from Tesco 😫) we present our updated menu.
It's mostly the same, a few tweaks here and there and some popular specials have made it to print.
We held out as long as we could but with ever increasing wholesale costs we've had to factor this into our new, freshly printed and laminated menu.
In these troublesome times we appreciate your continued support.
All the best. 👌
Hello, we're back with you from 10:30 on Friday, 7th April.

Raspberry Oat Slice

Hello everyone.
Bit of a last minute decision this, we have been planning on taking time off for a while but commitments or some reason not to always seem to pop up.
However, as time goes on we're getting increasingly burnt out and with this in mind we shall be taking Saturday, 1st of April until Thursday, 6th of April off for some rest and recuperation.
Best wishes.
