Haggis- the most Scottish thing you can eat.
Haggis the national dish of Scotland, Traditionally made from the liver, heart and lungs of a sheep mixed with beef suet and oatmeal and seasoned then packed into a sheep's stomach and boiled ... tasty ! or maybe NOT !
I am happy to say that we no longer make it this way in Scotland, the modern recipe is now very simple consisting of lamb, beef, oats, onions and spices and nothing more, Haggis is basically an oaty spicy mince traditionally served with neeps and tatties ( swede and potatoes) some like to combine this into a mixture called clapshot. it can be served with a whisky sauce or gravy.
so next time you get the chance why not give it a try !
