Creative colour using balayage techniques. The client wanted a ‘foxy’ look. SVQ 3 student creating a fox tail with red tones mid lengths and ends with darker black at the tips.

Hair by our modern apprentice Emmie.
Our lovely client had been box dyeing her hair previously and wanted to have some light brown highlights to blend in with some grey coming through.
Hair was colour corrected, pre lightened highlights then toned to a soft caramel.

So anyone who has studied beauty therapy over many of our UHI partners may recognise this name!!
Her beauty therapy books are the go to for our learners…I do love a brand new book..hate creasing the pages though 😝and the updated text book for level 2 beauty therapy has just been published
Lorraine liaises with industry professionals and experts to ensure that the knowledge gives a wealth of information and perspectives and stays current.
I met the hair and beauty team at Fife College in Dunfermline as well as .thompson_ from who along with his brother are world renowned educators with training programmes for apprentices and salons.

It doesn’t matter how long you have been in the industry it’s important to keep learning and keep current in an ever evolving industry!

Some of the UHI Inverness team headed down to our partner UHI Perth for standardisation of our HN modules.
Meet ups like this ensure that our students across the partners get the same experience and discuss industry trends and what we can offer!
A topic that came up (that comes up time and time again) was the importance of having regulated qualifications!
We see so many posts on forums and groups about ‘how can I fix this problem’, ‘has anyone seen this on the nails/skin’
Doing a regulated qualification usually gives you the underlying knowledge and understanding to carry out treatments that you may not get with one day or very short courses.
Now there are really good courses out there that are short courses, but it is worth doing research before you undertake these to make sure you get the best training you can.

Our Intro to Beauty students are creating some incredible art work on their Face & Body Painting for events 🖌️🎨 They are practicing their designs on templates which will then get recreated onto skin, also use of stencils and tattoos to help inspire designs ♠️

Who wants a set of classic eyelash extensions for FREE!?
Looking for models for the SVQ2A group to complete a full set of lashes. Model must have no other lashes on.
Monday 22nd April 9.30am.
Students have been trained in classic individual lash extension systems, this session is to build speed and application techniques but models will be required for 2 hours. Patch test required by Friday.

SVQ 2 beauty therapy students are open for brow tinting and shaping and eyelash tinting treatments. Patch tests are required for these services 24/48 hours before service for insurance purposes. Amazing prices!
Eyelash extensions will be coming soon! The students are busy getting their lashing skills up before we offer to clients.
