We need your help! We need a name! ๐ŸŽƒ ๐ŸŽƒ

We're delighted to be trailing some new technology on the farm this year. We have just taken delivery of this robot that will become part of the workforce here at the farm, with the ability to harvest 1000 pumpkins per hour.

This is going to revolutionalise Pumpkin harvest here in the North of Scotland.

If he works well, we'll be keen to make some return by hiring him out for your events.

We need you to help us name him!

What should we call him? Let us know below and we'll pick a winner later today!

Dates collated for the second application being put forward by a group of all private, local individuals based in the Wyvis area, from what I gather.

Please try and attend the meetings if you live, or work in the areas being affected. We need full transparency around the agenda here to enable us to make informed decisions.

25/01/2024

For anyone who didn't manage the meeting last night about the first proposal in our area, here are the dates of the rest of the public meetings. Note the Saturday one isn't all day, as I had previously thought.

Please share.

PLEASE READ - New National Parks

Tonight I attended a meeting in our local hall about a proposal for our area to become Scotland's next National Park.

The meeting was advertised with relatively short notice and the application is due to be submitted to Government by the 29th of February.

I'm worried. We don't have enough evidence from any point of view to form a real opinion on how this might affect us, as farmers, as rural workers, and as people who live in this community. The decisions made now, will impact mostly on the next generation.

Today we found out that we are infact in not one, but TWO applications for national park status. Neither of which we had been consulted about as landowners in the pre application stages. It makes me really suspicious that it seems to have gone right under the radar. Why? What's the agenda here? Can anybody tell me?

I'd love to hear from those currently farming in a national park. What's your thoughts? I won't publicly share any messages. Please help us to make an informed decision on this.

Two maps of the proposed boundaries.

For those attending our wreath making today, be aware that the roads in the area are really slippy. No pressure to arrive on time, so don't worry if you're running late, take it easy.

Remember to dress warm as our workshops are in the shed. We'll have the fire on but it'll still feel a bit chilly.

If you've not been here before, we're 'Loch Ness Pumpkins' on google maps. It's at Buntait Farm, Glenurquhart. My mobile is 07794 054046 if you need me. ๐Ÿ˜€

Summer throwback. Have you visited our Sunflower field yet? If not, 2024 is the year!

17/11/2023

We're going to be at the Christmas Fundraising Market in Drumnadrochit tomorrow with the Pumpkin Express. If your little one loves the train, come and grab the last chance to ride for 2023.

The fundraiser is going to be fantastic, with lots of stalls and things to do, there's even PONY RIDES and ferrets too!

The absolute cherry on the top...the money is being raised for our local friend Ailsa Fraser, and her family, who are weathering the most unthinkable storm right now. Please help us to help them, and enjoy a fun day out while you're at it! Shares appreciated.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came and embraced the weather today.

It was lovely to see so many people thoroughly kitted out for the conditions and having an absolute belter of a time. Many people also made use of the new stove to warm their hands while enjoying a coffee.

Even the adults were jumping in the puddles, showing you're never too old to enjoy the rain!

I can't explain to you how much we appreciate the can do attitude of highland people when it comes to driech weather. Thank you so much for still supporting us. It may mean nothing to you, but it means the world to us. ๐Ÿฅฐ

We acknowledge that the road conditions in the North weren't great, with some full on road closures due to flooding. We have contacted everyone that we were made aware of who were affected by this so please check your messages if that applied to you.

21/10/2023

A quick announcement to confirm that we will be open as usual today, despite rain in the forecast.

We are an outdoor event in the Scottish Highlands, and rain is not uncommon at this time of year.

Over the years we have worked hard to develop and invest in the site for days like these, and we do have several indoor shed areas and a cafe with proper seating and a woodburning stove.

We will be serving a multitude of lovely hot food and drinks to warm you up after having fun in the field.

The forecast is not for heavy rain, but it will rain.

Our best advice is for everyone in your party to come with full waterproofs and wellies and be prepared to have fun In the rain.

We are unable to transfer tickets to future events as all events are now fully booked.

Edit...please be aware of scammers who are up early this morning. ๐Ÿ™ƒ Buying tickets from anyone on here will be at your own risk and as I am pot washer, till operator, and social media manager ๐Ÿคฃ, the post won't be monitored from now on.

20/10/2023

A wee double rainbow over the patch today. Thanks to all who came, turned out to be lovely but brisk day! The fire was on and lots of fun was had!

INFO for Tomorrow Sat 21st

Normal business resumes with session times as follows;

๐ŸŽƒ 9.30 til 11.30
๐ŸŽƒ 12.30 til 2.30
๐ŸŽƒ 3.30 til 5.30

Each session lasts for 2 hrs. Please arrive no more than ten minutes before your ticket time as this helps us hugely to manage the traffic in and out.

Tomorrow our new ho**er will be In action ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿ˜

The ho**er will be sounded at the end of the session (two hrs from your start time). This is our way of letting you know that your session has ended and we will shortly be welcoming the next session. A bit like the 'blue bands leave the pool' announcement at the swimming pool.

See you tomorrow!

19/10/2023

FRIDAY UPDATE

Weather forecast from 3pm tomorrow is showing a much improved picture on the 12.30 session.

If you have tickets for 12.30 we will be open for you, however if you would like to move to the 3.30 session, we are more than happy for you to do so.

We will welcome late arrivals and won't be strictly imposing the 2hr 'Kick Out' at 2.30 as we usually have to. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thankfully this was our additional date, added only two weeks ago and therefore we can accommodate those from the early session in the afternoon with ease.

Thank you for reading If you got this far! See you tomorrow Pumpkin People! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Someone must have cracked a joke. ๐Ÿคฃ

18/10/2023

While the weather situation is an emerging one, we'd like to let you know that we will continue to monitor and review the situation. Being farmers, watching the weather is one of our favourite pastimes ๐Ÿคฃ so please don't think it hasn't already been discussed at Pumpkin HQ.

The current weather warnings don't affect our locality, however, are scheduled to cease by the time we open on Friday afternoon.

Obviously, that might change, and we will let you know if our plans change. Keep an eye on our social pages for most up to date information.
