📝SURVEYOR

📄Role Description
This is a full-time Surveyor role working from our office based in Ipswich, with the possibility of some remote work. The Surveyor will be responsible for examining and surveying timber, diagnosing dampness in buildings, and providing advice on suitable treatments for preservation within properties across East Anglia. The surveyor will also be responsible for liaising with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders, as well as producing accurate and detailed reports.

🏫Qualifications
- Experience in surveying, diagnosing dampness in buildings, and/or preserving timber
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to produce accurate and detailed written and verbal reports
- Proficiency in using relevant surveying equipment and software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations

📃Training
If required, we would be happy to take on a trainee-surveyor and provide the adequate training qualification to become a qualified surveyor. Training will be carried out through the Property Care Association.

✔Overview
We are currently seeking a full-time surveyor specializing in the inspection of damp, mould, and timber within commercial, public, private, and residential properties. The role requires conducting property assessments throughout the East Anglian region of England from Monday to Friday. Following property visits each day, the incumbent has the flexibility to work either remotely (hybrid) or from the office to compile written reports and create sketch plans for client submission.

It's getting to that time if year again when condensation is forming on the windows, walls are getting cold, and the dampness is occurring! If you notice any of these, try some of our condensation tips:

● Ensure your extractor fans are working
● Sleep with your bedroom door open
● Keep your furniture off of the wall's surface (leave a gap for the walls to breathe!)
● Open the windows trickle vents, or pop your windows on vent to allow a very small circulation of air

During these tough times, we appreciate having the heating on can be difficult, however, try and put your heating on at a low temperature (19-21°c) so the property can warm up.

Condensation occurs when warm, moist air (from breathing, cooking, washing etc.) comes into contact with colder wall surfaces. Warm air rises so it's common to find that mould will form in the top corners of rooms, especially bedrooms.

Mould can easily been cleaned off with mould remover or a watered-down bleach solution. If you see it start to occur, clean it off as soon as possible to prevent the spread!

How can you tell what is causing your dampness?

Mould growth is due to internal surface condensation, caused by a combination of lack of adequate heat and ventilation, moisture build-up and restricted air circulation.

Rising damp is a result of capillary activity and therefore water droplets or free surface moisture would never occur and water would not run down and collect at the base of the wall.

If free surface water is present, it is almost certainly a result of severe condensation, water pe*******on, or a leak and not rising damp.

If you are ever concerned about dampness occurring in your property, please do not hesitate to give one of our surveyors a call!

Maljon 2022 Price Increase

We would like to inform all of our clients and customers that our prices for surveys will increase from 1st February 2022* onwards.

Our new survey fee will start at a minimum of £65.00+VAT and will increase dependant on the exigency.
