HELLO, BOOKSTORE
USA 2022 (PG) 86 minutes. Directed by A B Zax
King Street Cinema – 28 October 2024 – 7.30pm
A documentary about a community rallying round to save its beloved bookstore from the effects of the pandemic.
Unapologetically a lot of talk about books, but you will be won over by the dominating figure of Matthew Tannenbaum, the bookstore owner with a gift and passion for stories.
The stats are in for September 😊 We don't keep a record of books coming in, but we've had a number of large donations, so it's probably a lot more than that!
Thank you so much for your support of our mission to encourage reading and provide somewhere for books, no longer needed, to be passed onto.
But, it's not all about the numbers - the shop has become a meeting place and is gaining a sense of community for visitors and volunteers, which we love 🥰
Don't forget we are open on Saturday this week and we're not sure how often we'll be able to do that, so if you work during the week, do come in while you have the chance - and bring the children! 😊

Research consistently shows how important it is for children to own their own books and have them at home. We have hundreds of picture books, so if you are involved in any setting that works or has contact with young children, please come and take a selection to share out 😊
And please tag/share with anyone that might be interested. Thank you

We have a funny little bit next to one of the windows that's too thin for a bookcase, but the wall is perfect for a community notice board! 😊 So if you want to advertise a local charity/event/cause feel free to drop us in a flyer and we'll add it 😊
This looks like fun 😊

Ipswich County Library 🎉📚🎉📚🎉📚🎉
We've recently been donated a huge number of books from Sense Ipswich who are over the road from us and for which we are very thankful. They were clearing their stock room to have a bit of a refurb, and we were delighted to be able to help them out with a mutually beneficial arrangement 🙂 There were a lot of cookery books included and, as you can see, we already have a bookcaseful! So, please come and see if there are any you'd like, to make room for more on the shelves. Thank you 😊
*Update - and the answer is..... 4568!😲🥰*
It's so brilliant to be able to share the love of books and give them a new home in this way 😁
You may have noticed that unfortunately the post got hijacked in the comments by scammers 😡 You know that we would never promise to give away any money, so please ignore/report anything similar.

If you've been in and seen our daily tally chart you might have some idea or you can scroll back over our posts for hints that could help with a guesstimate 😊

We had a brilliant moment today when a mum and 3 daughters came in for the first time. They went to the children's section and exclaimed - "That was our bookshelf!" Our fab fish-shaped one was donated by someone completely different while we were closed and it was in the storage unit for 18 months until a few weeks ago! It was handmade by their Dad/Grandad and they were really sad to let it go several years previously, so were delighted and very surprised to see it again in its new home 🥰
Thank you so much for supporting us - whether by donating books or money or by visiting and taking books or by liking and sharing our posts and of course to our volunteers, who make it all possible 😊
We've been open in our new shop for a month and we are thrilled with how busy it's been 😊
Have you been in yet? What did you think? We understand it's quite hard to get your head round the fact that you really can take books for free, so if you've done it and can reassure people that it really is true and there is no catch or hidden agenda, please leave a comment below 😊
Thank you x
I know electronic reading devices and audio books have their benefits, but....you just can't beat an actual book! 😊 I think we probably have all these types on our shelves! 😁
