When Orla (age 6) and her family visited Coralbox, they bought one of our friendly little otters. Orla and Ruby have since been on adventures on Berneray and sent in one of their stories to us 🦦

Not my usual Monday 🏎

So lovely to meet Karen & Dave who are travelling over 1000 miles in a Morgan Super 3 from the West Midlands, to Berneray and up to Lewis. In 1933 the first ever motorised vehicle arrived here on Berneray, a 1923 three wheeler Morgan Runabout, now restored & in Stornoway Museum.

🚘 Coralbox car park 🚘

As we are only a little shop with a small car park, can we remind visitors to Coralbox to please use the parking area for visiting our shop only.

On three separate occasions this month, we have had people leave cars for over 2 or 3 hours which affects others parking and can also block in my own vehicle after shop hours finish.

Other parking is available down by the harbour area and also around the island for longer walks / exploring the island and other visitor attractions.

Please be considerate of others.

Due to still not feeling 100%, Coralbox on Berneray will remain closed Tuesday 25th June. Being self-employed has its ups & downs - one of those is when you don't feel well, you can't be everywhere 😔

Hopefully reopen on Wednesday.

After closing early yesterday, we hopped on the ferry to Harris followed by a two hour drive north to Reef beach 🚐 over 4 miles of beaches & hills walked today. Now to cook dinner and have a cosy van night 🩵

So lovely to see you Immerse Hebrides :) hope you enjoyed your week long Outer Hebrides swim tour adventure 🌊

💫 Amended opening hours for June 💫

Due to a mixture of ferry times for a weekend van trip, a planned hospital appointment and other work commitments, we will have a couple days closing early and 2 days fully closed over this week and next.

Full normal hours should resume Tuesday 25th June 😊

We are still open today during the unplanned power cut. We are accepting both card payments and cash 😊

Today's beach find... part of a vintage 1970s Younger's tartan special ale tin 🍺 Brewed in Edinburgh by Scottish & Newcastle Breweries Ltd. New glass bottles & tin cans launched in 1971 to complement the kegs available only in pubs. Off to research more... 🧐😊

After a busy week at Coralbox, it's nice to have a day off & visit North Uist. We headed to Balranald to The Dunes Cabin for delicious baking & crab rolls and a visit to their new building - The Dunes Larder with self service vending machines filled with potatoes, irn bru & more. A great day out finished with a walk on the beach :)
