CoolCrafting
Sewing, Knitting, Crochet & Crafting Inspiration from the edge of the English Lake District.
Tomorrow is the biggest day of the year for this small business! Have a flick through these photo at the Christmas Surprises Past.
The CoolCrafting Christmas Surprise pre-order opens on Wednesday, 16th October at 12 o’clock midday. What do you think it will be this time? Take a guess in the comments.
The Christmas Surprise is a CoolCrafting Christmas tradition. Every year, we at Coolcrafting create a new friend for Luna and post them to you in time for Christmas in a sealed package. The only people who know what the animal the Christmas surprise contains are those at CoolCrafting HQ. I will say confirm this years might be my favourite yet! The Christmas Surprise is about recreating the anticipation of the unknown that you remember from chilly childhood Christmas mornings.
This year, the Surprise will not have a separate outfit, and the price is confirmed at £25!
Don’t open before 25th December; no peeking, no poking and no posting!

Last Call for Class! We still have a couple of places left on our two Saturdays (19th and 26th October) Sew your Own Wardrobe - Harlow Shirt Class taught by Rebecca Lucas.
The class takes place across two Saturdays, and you should leave with plenty of new skills and a shirt you love!
Get in touch if you would like more details.
The Luna Lapin 2025 calendar is now available for pre order!
Luna has taught us that kindness is a bit of magic we can all make happen daily, and we think it goes hand in hand with creativity.
In the spirit of spreading this magic, our 2025 calendar encourages you to collect moments of kindness. We’ve left a small space each month for you to write down moments that stood out to you. Of course, you can also use this space for general planning if that suits you better.
The calendar also features inspirational quotes and pages at the back to help you track your creative journey throughout the year.
As always, our calendars are printed to order and designed in house, so it is best to pre-order your calendar in advance. Normal pre-order rules apply. £9.50 plus pp.
The PDF pattern for Bathsheba the baby bat is (finally) available. We love seeing all your makes over in Luna Lapins Little World.
This little one has caused us so much trouble. We had a nightmare with thread (it got stuck in Belgium), then we had a felt shortage horror story (it was stuck in Spain) followed by a pipe cleaner disaster (they got stuck in Preston)!
We did everything we could to get the our bat kits to you as soon as possible, which meant one batch of people received a different size of felt. We will be making a small donation for each amended kit to the Bat Conservation Trust.
If you ordered after the 20th your kit will be taking off next week.
We are fast approaching our 6th year of the CoolCrafting Christmas Surprise. We will be launching the pre order on Wednesday 16th October. For more information check out our most recent, very special edition newsletter, either in your inbox, in our bio or by swiping through this post!
A special shout out to , and all thriving indie business run by women we once had the pleasure of spending our days with! to the whose work protects our home (mum met a fox this morning) and to every other member of our community who keep it kind and creative.
Orla and Ava have only been part of Luna's Flock since Christmas 2023, but as they say, birds of a feather flock together, and our mother-and-daughter duo have all the qualities that Luna looks for in her friends.
As a reminder, this year's Christmas Surprise launches on the 16th of October at 12 o'clock Midday.
Remember to us help us choose the picture for our postcard pack by letting us know in the comments which you like best. The winners will be selected based on your votes.
Meet Erik, our sweet and gentle Svalsbardian Bear. Erik Eriksen is a special kind of bear. He always knows what will happen just before it does; it is his particular sort of magic about him. Erik is an expert in finding the Northern Lights and the heart of his Arctic community.
As my (Grace's) first Christmas Surprise, Erik will always be close to my heart. I am even more excited to announce that our friend @ will teach a Making Luna Lapin and a Making Erik Eriksen class with us in 2025. You can find more details on the website or get in touch for more information.
Please help us choose the picture for our postcard pack by letting us know in the comments which you like best. The winners will be selected based on your votes! We are almost at the end of this group project and I am very much looking forward to sharing the results.
Aw Bats!
How sweet is Bathsheba, the newest addition to Luna Lapin's Little World? Our smallest friend is available to pre-order. We had hoped to have all our crepuscular and not-at-all-spooky baby bats to you today, but we have flown into a little issue that means we are about a week behind (our threads are stuck in Belgium).
The very first 200 people to order should have already received them, if you have ordered but are still waiting you should receive your bat by the end of next week (October 5th).
For those still waiting to order, we will pop more Bathsheba the Baby Bat Make Me Kits onto the website today - these will be posted around the 10th of October. As for the PDF, we will release it when we feel that enough people who bought the kit right off the bat (hehe) have received their parcel.
You will also be able to pick up Bathsheba at Knitting and Stitching Alexander Palace, and we will have a few (without thread) available at Yarndale for those who have requested to pick her up.
A huge thank you to for squeezing us in so we could make the release of Bathsheba happen in time for Autumn.
And that's a wrap for CoolCrafting at
We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of Shirley and her incredible team, plus all the people who have visited us today. We saw some old friends, new folks and finally got to put some faces to familiar names.
A very special thank you to everyone who helped us make our very characterful Giant Hamish, it was great fun putting him together.
We can’t wait to do it all again next year.
Sidney and Sol are our gorgeous beach donkeys and they are very, very well loved. With there gentle faces and soft boucle noses it’s hard not to want to give them a squish.
I also happen to think Luna Lapin and the House by The Sea is some of my best work! Do you read the Luna Stories?
Remember to us help us choose the picture for our postcard pack by letting us know in the comments which you like best. The winners will be selected based on your votes.
Smokey Joe is our lockdown baby; he sometimes gets a little left out, he’s not in an office with the books, and I’m guilty of forgetting him! He is just a quiet little guy happy with his Ukulele by a campfire, looking up at the stars.
We think he’s really, really, very cute. Have you made our lovely American Racoon?

Here is Hamish the Highlander, our Scottish coo with the heart of a Shakespearean hero. Hamish is somewhat of a celebrity in Luna Lapin’s Little World, with his acting chops being nearly as well known as that handsome head of fire-red hair.
We are guilty of overusing this lil guy whenever we are on our way to Scotland. But we are big fans, of both him and Bonnie Scotland. We hope to see many of you next week in at Karelia House in Aberfeldy where we will be making a Giant Hamish.
But for now please help us choose the picture for our postcard pack by letting us know in the comments which you like best. The winners will be selected based on your votes.
Named for a favourite Aunty, Dora the Pig was introduced with the publication of our fourth book. We love her wrinkled nose and would love her to advise us on how to plant the perfect cottage garden.
We don't see a huge amount of Doras over on our Facebook group, Luna Lapin's Little World, and I (Grace) happen to be helping with tomorrow's post—I'm going to be sending one person a special gift along with their order! So if you haven't made her yet and you are feeling lucky, now might be a good time!
Remember to vote for your favourite picture of our lovely pig in the comments!
Ziggy has gone through quite a few iterations, his furry head has proved hard to track down. A little shorter than the rest of Luna's friends, our little rockstar is one of our trickier projects and one of our sweetest!
Please help us choose the picture for our postcard pack by letting us know in the comments which you like best. The winners will be selected based on your votes.
Meet Ottoline the Otter. Our very own wandering soul. This twitchy-nosed adventurer is never happier than sailing the seven seas or exploring wild places. Ottoline is a firm fan favourite, and it's easy to see why. She's just so cute!

In June, we started a competition to see which gorgeous photographs of Luna's friends from our collection you would like to see in a pack of postcards. Well, it's back, and we were hoping you could tell us which of these gorgeous portraits of Freya Fawn you would like to see as one of the 10!
A huge thank you to , who helps bring our collection of felted folks to life.
Hamish is very excited to join us on Friday, September 13th, and Saturday, September 14th, at Kareliahouse_kh for two days of celebrating 10 Years of Of Luna.
We asked you to vote on which of Luna's friends you thought we should be making as part of our community. Stitch and Hamish came out on top, and why wouldn't he! We will be in his homeland, after all.
There are still spaces left if you want to join us - please book your spot in advance. https://www.coolcrafting.co.uk/product/community-stitch-karelia/
Just a reminder that the CoolCrafting Shop is closed tomorrow (26.08) for the August Bank holiday! It’s going to be a wet one! let us know what inside project you are working on at the moment?
We have had a lot of new followers over the weekend (thanks to for sharing her Luna journey), so I just wanted to reintroduce our quiet and kind rabbity-hare, Luna Lapin.
Over the past 10 years, our 16" future heirloom has gained a whole wardrobe of clothes and a menagerie of friends, but she remains the heart of everything we do. Luna is a perfect project for every stage of your sewing journey. She is simple to sew, and our clear and detailed instructions guide you through the process. We designed all the clothing to help you build real dressmaking skills, they just happen to be in miniature!
Whether you are a first-time stitcher or an old friend, Luna Lapin is always there when you need her, stitch by lovely stitch.
Our gorgeous little Dutch Rabbits, Anouk and Tulip, are now available on the website as a Make Me Kit, Remake Kit, or just the patterns.
We have also popped on the last 35 10-year celebration magazines online for those who missed the big 10-year project pre-order. The 10-year magazine contains the patterns for Anouk and Tupil, plus Baby Luna and all of their outfits. It is a real celebration of Luna Lapin and the community that has sprung up around her in the past decade.
We loved seeing so many of you at the Festival of Quilts. Like Luna, we have made some great friends over the years, and we know that there will be plenty more to be made in the future.
