Our amazing UHN skin specialists - like consultant dermatologist Olivia Stevenson (pictured) - are offering local people the chance to have moles and other marks on their skin checked out to have peace of mind on possible skin cancers.

Last year more than 600 members of the public attended a free skin surveillance day held in the KGH Dermatology Centre at Prospect House, Lower Street, Kettering.

This year the event is being held on two days. The first is in Prospect House, Lower Street, Kettering, again on Saturday, September 7, from 9am-12 noon.

The second is on Monday, September 9, also from 9am-12 noon, at the Irish Centre in Patrick Road, Corby.

People who attend the event will get tickets and will be seen so long as they arrive between 9am and 12 noon.

🎓 **STUDENTS** 🎓

In just under six months, I’ll be celebrating 10 years since I took the leap and started Kolaine Beauty Lounge. It wasn’t a huge decision—it was simply following my passion, something that felt like a natural part of my everyday life. What began as a hobby grew into something more, and while it’s come with a lot of responsibility, it’s also brought immense fulfillment. 🌟

Growing up with dyslexia, reading and writing didn’t come easily for me. 📚 While others might breeze through a book, I had to find my own way. I used visual aids, focused on hands-on learning, and took extra time to absorb information. It wasn’t always easy, and there were plenty of frustrating moments, but dyslexia taught me to be resourceful, patient, and determined. 💪

These challenges didn’t hold me back; they became the foundation of my success. Dyslexia pushed me to think outside the box, see the world from unique perspectives, and embrace creativity in everything I do. It taught me that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to learning or achieving your goals. 🌱

As you wait for your results, remember: your worth isn’t defined by a grade. I left school without any qualifications and had to start my college course in the lowest set because I didn’t achieve 3 C’s or above in my GCSEs. My dyslexia wasn’t diagnosed until I was 23, when I returned to college to gain my teaching qualification. But with the right support, I not only qualified, but I was also named Student of the Year at Tresham College in 2008. At 21, I became the director of a company, and at 25, I set up my own business with employees and my own premises.

Success isn’t about fitting into a mold; it’s about following your passions and turning challenges into opportunities. If things don’t go as planned, don’t be too hard on yourself. Use this moment as a stepping stone toward what you truly love, and let that passion guide you. ✨

Keep going, keep believing in yourself, and know that every setback is just part of your unique journey. 🚀🌈
