It’s bluebell time!

Rupert has become an uncle! These are such gorgeous healthy little wrigglers! Hand reared indoors, you won’t get better prepared pups anywhere else. Honey is a perfect mummy taking her responsibilities very seriously and thoroughly enjoying the whole process.

The cherry trees we planted over 30 years ago are looking tremendous at the moment 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Always the highpoint of the festival, this year’s Gala Concert will take place in Worcester Cathedral at 7.30pm on Saturday 1 June. Elgar’s Violin Concerto is a work both intimate and grandiose, universal and personal, confessional yet private. Festival composer Steve Elcock’s epic tone poem, Wreck, has been described as “some of the best orchestral music by a British composer in the last fifty years.” And to bring this year’s festival to a thrilling conclusion, Elgar’s rousing Cockaigne, inspired by the sights, sounds and smells of London Town.

Tickets range from £10 to £27.

Our poor old gander is feeling very lonely. Elderly Mrs Goose died of old age a few weeks ago and he’s pining for company. He wouldn’t release her body for burial for two days so grief stricken was he and once she was gone he cried for two weeks. When he joined our elderly gaggle some years ago there were five of them. Now it’s just him. Does anyone have any excess geese looking for a home? Nice acre with big pool and pretty garden to waddle about.

The wild garlic is bountiful this year so now I’ve got a bag full in the fridge along with some fresh mint, lovage and sweet cicely I found on the old embankment. So I shall be busy tomorrow I think.

I haven’t taken you for a stroll around the garden for ages so here we are. There’s lots of blossom on the cherry trees and apple trees. The cowslip seeds I scattered years ago are now drifts of yellow blossoms. The English bluebells are flowering at the same time as the Spanish ones. There are drifts of anemone blanda and various colours of violets as well as wild strawberries. The grass is green and lush. Spring has definitely sprung here in Shropshire. 😻😻😻
