Experimenting on the loom ✨
Finally made time to do some weaving today! ✨
I still had my black and white double cloth warp on my loom from my last MA sample I wove back in July 😅 There was enough left to play around with this afternoon and I finally got round to trying something that’s been in my head for a while and I love it! It has so much potential to be explored further with different materials and on a much larger scale ◾️
- As well as featuring some unintentional fringing 🟰
What do we think? Missed you George 😘
Upcoming workshop! Be sure to book your place ✨

Long time no speak… I have been settling into my new job and finding my feet since finally graduating from education! To think I have been in education for 22 years is crazy 🤯 (minus the year off in lockdown) So it’s taken me a minute to adjust to working full time and juggling planning lessons etc whilst niggling in the back of my mind is the dream to pursue my studio practice and research developments.
Without the intense deadlines set for me, I struggle to find the urgency with my own work and the confidence to just do it.
I have so many ideas and things I want to try, it’s making the time to do it.
I need to let go of the idea of perfectionism and immediate success, instead enjoying the messy, unpredictable journey ✨
Above I am revisiting work from my MA - developing a sub category of “A Hairy Situation” titled “re:growth” exploring the use of hair within fertilisation using innovative design concepts.
Well, I have officially graduated from my Masters 🤯 🫡😮💨
I still can’t quite believe it… If you’d have told little ol’ me this is where’d I’d be today I wouldn’t have believed you for a second! It’s been a hell of a journey but I wouldn’t change it for the world 🌍
Here’s to the next chapter! 🥂 ✨
Fantastic exhibition currently on about Palestinian Embroidery at . Incredible pieces, and didn’t expect to see Mona Hatoum’s hair weaves in person, a big inspiration during my MA 💫 Highly recommend 🧵
Hello 👋🏻
Apologies for the radio silence, I switched myself off from social media for the final year of my Masters as I can find it quite overwhelming and I wanted to purely focus on my project without being distracted by amazing creatives and projects because I don’t know about you guys but comparing yourself and your work to others can be so exhausting! But anyway … I’ve finally finished my Masters 🥳 🥂
These are a few shots of my work exhibited at a few weeks ago. I’m really happy with the overall outcome, it’s been one hell of a rollercoaster, from disheartening comments towards my project, to total confusion as to what direction it was heading, I can confidently say that I have achieved what I set out to accomplish!
If you wish to find out more about “A Hairy Situation” and want to read my supporting publication and watch the accompanying films, click the link in my bio!
It’s good to be back! 💃🏻 Thank you for sticking around and I’m excited to start my next journey! 🤗
So exciting seeing our sessions develop! We’re weaving!! 🙌🏻 Look at those edges for a first time weaver 👏🏻 The Spinning Barn - Hand Spinning Studio
HAIR // MATERIAL // FIBRE
Primary imagery of close up hair styles to inspire design.
An exciting way to start 2023 off! A brilliant article in KL Magazine covering my current MA research into human hair as a viable material within the textile industry - exploring its properties and aesthetics in combination with traditional weaving techniques in a new and contemporary way. Exploring using what we already have available to us and challenging peoples perceptions of a material that is naturally occurring without any harmful chemicals, vast water usage and deforestation.
Inspired by the adornment and endless playful possibilities whilst still attached to our heads in combination with the strong and useful properties of the material itself, I’m using hair “waste” in an unconventional but sustainably futuristic way.
P.s I am rubbish at updating my social medias with my current work but I’m hoping to be a bit more consistent!
Still spaces available for this Christmas themed workshop! Although it’s Xmas based, you’re more than welcome to bring any project you want to work on or want to learn how to do! Link below to secure your space 💫

This is fantastic 👏🏻
The comments are so interesting, so many negatives ones yet people will wear extensions/wigs made from someone else’s hair completely?🤔 Food for thought…
Today I was a guest speaker for the Women’s Institute talking all things weaving. Explaining a bit about my current practice and research during my MA and beyond.
It was wonderful to explain and demonstrate about my work and practice to people outside of my bubble and to those outside of study and the craft.
Really interesting and valuable to see their reaction to my portfolio and current research into hair and my goals and aims within my practice as well as some eager people to discuss options of working with precious hair they’ve kept for generations, some for 40+ years!
It was an extremely valuable talk for myself and hopefully the audience, to consider materials that would otherwise go to waste and become open to using what might be considered “weird” or “unconventional”.
Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of the set up but wanted to document the opportunity and let others know I am always open to doing talks/demonstrations/workshops 🤗
The satisfying sight of a first warp being fully set up 🤗 One of the best feelings!✨ Next up, weaving! 😊
Excited to let you all know that I’m taking part in for the first time, this year! I have amazingly been chosen as a feature artist (and my big loom of course) which I am so excited to show the public, demonstrating a variety of my equipment from my big loom, table loom, spinning wheel, knitting machines and so on!
I am based in West Norfolk so be sure to pop by! Look forward meeting you! 🤗
P.s Just a note, there has been a small change to my schedule I will be closed Monday 26th but now open on the Tuesday 27th and same again the following week closed Monday the 3rd but open Tuesday the 4th.
