Job Purpose

To support a mother with all daily living tasks including personal care, food preparation and domestic tasks.

Details

I am a 32-year old mother with mobility issues and chronic pain, with a 15-month old daughter and another baby on the way. Due to my disability, I have difficulties being able to carry out day to day tasks, and I am looking for a friendly, supportive Personal Assistant to support with caring for myself and my daughter, and running our home.

I am a friendly and down to earth individual who likes to watch films, get out into nature (in my wheelchair) and have a good laugh. I also really enjoy going out for coffee or going for a drive just to get out of the house.

Duties to include:

• Support with dressing and un******ng, and getting in and out of the shower.
• Parenting support to help me care for my young daughter. This will include getting her dressed, nappy changes, playing with her and supporting her at mealtimes.
• Support with food preparation, including preparing lunch and leaving an evening meal for myself and my daughter.
• Support with accessing the community, including going shopping and attending appointments.
• General domestic tasks such as hoovering, dusting and doing laundry.
• Wheel chair handling.
• Any other reasonable duties as required.

Person specification

Listed below are the skills, competencies and qualities that are essential and desirable for the post. My assessment of these, both on application and at interview, will be the main factor in determining if you are successful. Please refer to these when submitting your application.

• Able to prepare home cooked meals desirable.
• Previous experience working with or caring for children desirable.
• Previous experience in social care roles essential.

Summary terms and conditions

• The rate of pay for this position is £9.37 per hour.

• You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role
• Hours and times of work: 20 hours per week, working 10 am to 2pm Monday to Friday. Some flexibility will be expected to support with attending medical appointments, which can be discussed and agreed ahead of time.

The post is subject to the following

• Must be self employed and HMRC registered

• A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.

• Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.

• Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months.
