Ever wanted to try a skydive?
Chill South Devon have a fundraising event planned on 19th October to raise funds for our Into the Blue courses for people with a cancer diagnosis.

An AMAZING Mum and daughter team are going to jump to help others. Cynthia completed the course last year, now she and Sally are preparing to fly high for us by doing a tandem skydive. You can join them!

Into the Blue aims to help people with cancer benefit from cold water therapy and swim with in a group of people who understand what it's like to be diagnosed and treated for cancer.

If you can support Cynthia and Sally every little is so gratefully received, to help others have the same opportunity. Thank you.

And if you have always wanted to try a skydive, book in at Skybuzz and jump for us!

Surrounded by colour we really did go Into the Blue..

On our penultimate week of the course our swimmers have already put plans in place for the continuation of swims that that have become a central plank in surviving life with cancer.

We discussed the alchemy that drives the need to continue..
The cold, the camaraderie, the movement, the beauty.. somehow combines to produce a life changing effect on mood, pain, mobility and meaning.

If you have had a diagnosis of cancer and would like to join a course, we will start our next Into the Blue groups in September 2024. Email [email protected] for more information.

And a BIG thank you to the Mustard Tree Cancer Support Centre for funding these Into the Blue courses.

Cancer treatment can mean joint pain.. but our Into the Blue swimmers are noticing how regularly dipping in cold water is reducing this, as well as bringing friendship, support and joy. Bodies and minds can feel much freer in the water than on land.

Into the Blue is an 8 week course at any time after a diagnosis of cancer.. at beautiful Bigbury supported by a Chill Coach/Macmillan Professional and lifeguard.

The Cold Water Swim Cure..

We are living evidence!

Finally it felt like summer might be coming, the sun was shining, it even felt warm. Standing on the beach in our cosies, without hesitation, we ran into the sea, but it still hits you. The cold water shock and the slow acclimatisation makes you slow down and adjust to the conditions. It might be warm on the beach but the water temperature is still cold. But that is exactly what we are looking for. It’s the cure we are seeking, ‘cause it works.. buzzing after and feeling amazing. It definitely is The Cold Water Swim Cure, as per Dr Mark Harper. https://www.outdoorswimmingsociety.com/science-cold-water/

What did you let go today?

The sun shone, together we walked into the beautiful crystal clear waters, and welcomed the gentle lapping waves, and there we let go of our unwanted troubles; drifting away into the sea. The perfect reset, welcoming in .

So wonderful to see so many in the water today, we had a blast!

At Chill South Devon, our joy is to enable people to experience the transformative healing power of cold-water swim therapy. Immersion in cold water, when done safely, gradually reduces stress levels, increases resilience in everyday life, and generates a greater sense of health and wellbeing.

And we did this today, thanks to our wonderful swim group; and the generous sponsors.. the team Salcombe Crabfest, and the lovely people from Devon Mind. And of course, a big thank you to Harry from Discovery Surf School who lent our swim coach a wet suit, in a moment of need.

And a huge thanks to our volunteers, coaches, supporters and our lifeguard support from Loïc Coast to Coast Water Safety
