Don't worry new mama, disstasis recti is very common after pregnancy.

It is the separation of your abdominal muscles at the linea alba (connective tissue) and it happens as your baby grows.

For around 40% of women this separation will close by 6-8 weeks postpartum.

If you are one of the 60% of women who still have a gap by 8 weeks you will need to give your body a little support and rehab the diastasis with exercise.

Most women aren't aware they have a diastsis because they weren't told or educated about it.

Diastsis can be the cause of back pain, a bloated or 'still pregnant looking' tummy and pelvic floor issues.

If you would like more support or have any questions please send me a DM.

How long does postnatal recovery take?

It will look different for everyone and can be a physically and mentally challenging time.

Not only are you getting used to being a mum, you also don't feel like yourself in your body, your hormones are on a rollercoaster and you’re probably not getting a lot of sleep, so remember to be kind to yourself.

You have all the time in the world and you will feel unstoppable again!

Your pregnancy, birth experience, genes and lifestyle all play a big role and affect your recovery timeline.

You can see how the type of birth you had can affect how long your recovery may be. Take your time and don't underestimate what your body has just been through.

All women deserve to fully heal, have a functional pelvic floor, strong core and feel like themselves in their bodies. Give yourself time and know that you will get there!

You matter just as much!

Always remember that you are perfect no matter where you are on your journey❤️

So my baby turned 1 😁🎉😢

Maxwell I love seeing your full belly and chunky thighs, your cheeky smile that makes being serious really hard.

I love your wet slobbery kisses and the way you make your brother laugh.

You are the most determined person I have ever known, you will go up, over or through anything in your way, like I've never seen before. You remind me daily to go fearlessly after anything I set my mind to.

I love you and I hope you are always cheeky, determined and fearlessly you.

One year of being a mum to two boys 🤯 I think I'm getting into a grove but they are getting more boisterous and strong so I'm upping my strength training to get ahead haha!

Leave a ❤️if your little one's birthdays make you so happy and sad at the same time, ah motherhood!

I get so reflective at my baby’s birthdays, just the sheer power of our bodies how incredible they are and how thankful I am that I can sit back, relax and be here now 😌

We are all on journeys with our bodies, I believe you can be truly appreciative and proud of your body while still wanting to work to strengthen and change it.

You know the change and amazing capability of your body, you’ve grown/are going a baby which is a miracle. So don't forget that your body can have incredible change postnatally too.

I wanted to share my reflection with you so hopefully, you can realise how incredible you are, no matter where you are on your journey you are a force to be reckoned with.

Sometimes being a mum feels like you need to do everything, for everyone, all of the time.

But this can come at the expense of not doing anything for yourself and feeling overwhelmed.

You can be the best and strongest version of yourself when you surround yourself with people who get it, people who want to help and support you.

And you can take a weight off of your shoulders when you stop trying to do everything🤗

My mission is to help women feel amazing throughout motherhood with pre + postnatal fitness and wellness. So that you can live your fullest life trusting in your strong, 100% functional body that always shows up for you and makes you feel confident.

How do I do it? By helping you, by taking the learning, planning and programming and putting it into easy-to-follow workout plans with all the knowledge videos you actually need to be spending your precious time watching.

I'm here to support mums, help you put yourself first and keep it simple for you. Because you are important too!

It's so uplifting when you take some time to look around to see who can help you, whether that's family members, friends, or specialists. Find people who care, support you and cheer you on, you don't need to do it all on your own mama ❤️

I've put together the 10 things mums need to know about postnatal exercise, to keep it simple for you and save a whole load of time searching the internet!

Let's normalise postpartum bodies!

Before I had my first son I had no idea what those first few weeks might feel or look like, I didn't know how my body would change. is looking beautiful here.

Things I wish I knew....

•Your belly will feel squishy, giggly, big and empty and that's ok, you can get back to feeling like yourself.

•You will bleed a lot (lots of pads needed!)

•You will be in awe of what your body is capable of

•Your b***s will be tender, swollen and sore

•Your balance will be off (you're little counterweight has disappeared)

•The hormonal rollercoaster is real and you just need to remember it's just a phase, to ride it out and talk it out

•Those post-birth cramps are intense, breathe them out, they do fade

•Trying to get out of bed will be a challenge because your core muscles are asleep, so roll out to the side like you did in pregnancy

•You won't fit into your jeans for a while (so buy a new pair that make you feel amazing!)

•It might be hard connecting with your pelvic floor post-birth but keep persisting it will get stronger

💕💕

Take your time, there is no rush to get back to exercise and the body you knew. You will be able to regain your strength, fitness and do everything again, but for now, be in this moment as much as you can. This time is for rest, nourishing your body and growing a special bond with your baby.

Time really does fly and there is nothing like those newborn cuddles. You will feel like yourself again, you are phenomenal and capable of amazing things.✨️

✨️ FREE ONLINE POSTNATAL CLASS IS THIS MORNING AT 10! ✨️

Knowing your why can change EVERYTHING.

Why do you workout?

It’s such a simple question but taking the time to go deep on this and get clear on why your doing it and what it really means for you can transform your motivation and goals.

For me, my why is:

💪I want to be physically strong to carry my boys & all of their stuff!
🧠To be mentally strong, to have the patience, calm & energy for mama life
🤰To honour my body and what it has done
♥️To feel like ME again, to reclaim my body, feel at home in it and feel confident in my skin.

I’d really encourage you to sit down with a pen and paper and take some time with this, ask yourself why and write it down, then ask your self why again and keep asking until you get to what it means to you. Not what you think it ‘should’ mean.

What’s your why?

Join me this morning at 10am for our free online postnatal exercise class, suitable for all abilities 💞

Time to give yourself the love care and respect your body needs in this special time. You are a warrior, so how would a warrior care for themselves?

If you’re not sure where to start or what your body needs post baby, join my free class Saturday 4th and I will be honoured to help you on your journey. Link in bio ❤️

Have you ever thought, if you had your arm in a cast for 6 weeks would you jump straight back into your regular exercise/workout? A demanding heavy shoulder press would not be the best idea.

So your core has been stretched and not fully activated for 9 months, would you jump back into your pre-pregnancy core exercises? 🤔

Your body, core and pelvic floor specifically, have been either out of action or way over worked and stretched. So they need a lot of love and attention when it comes to exercise.

However and whenever you are ready to get back into exercise, please make sure you know why you're doing an exercise and if your body is ready for it.

You WILL get back to all the exercises you love, you just need time and a plan.

👉I have a free online class Saturday 2nd April at 10am for postnatal mama's. One hour to empower your postnatal recovery and tune in to what your body needs, so you can have a stronger core, pelvic floor and more body confidence.

I’d love to guide and support you, you can sign up through the link in bio. Don't worry, if you cant make it live, a reply will be sent out to everyone signed up.

I hope to see you there!
... this is a freeze frame from a video inside the membership 😂

New mama of a few weeks or a few years, this FREE online class is for you!

I am so excited to be doing this live class, it is my gift to all you mums out there for mothers day!

1 hour to empower your postnatal recovery and tune in to what your body needs, so you can have a stronger core, pelvic floor and more body confidence.

As mums we surrender our body for 9+ months, a body that really doesn’t feel like ours. Then when your little one arrives you’re left with a different body, one that you still don't recognise or feel at home in.

Sooooo, this class is here for you if you really want to get back to exercise but feel overwhelmed.

If you have no idea where to start, what exercises to do, or what YOUR body needs.

If you are looking for support, guidance and empowerment to get your body back to feeling like yours again!

I am so honoured to be a part of women's pre & postnatal fitness journey and I can’t wait to share this class, workout and empowering support so you can get your journey off to a strong and positive start.

You can sign up with link in bio & there will also be special bonuses to my brand new pre & postnatal fitness membership, the Strong Mama Club, for the amazing mamas who join live.

Saturday 2nd April at 10am, link in bio to sign up ❤

I hope to see you there!

Do you make your health & fitness a priority? 💞

It can be hard to find the time to workout and take time for you. The first thing you can do is to change your mindset from 'I need to find time' to 'I am MAKING time'.

It is super rare that all of the stars aline and your house is clean, your little one is napping and your to-do list is empty (this has never happened for me!)

I’m not the first to say things get trickier with two, but you NEED to make yourself a priority and don't apologise for doing it. Sometimes there is laughing, sometimes there are tears and poops 💩

You need and deserve as much time, care and love as everyone else. Even if your little monkeys join in sometimes like my boys... just watch your toes and the dumbbells!

Henry loves trying to wrap me up with resistance bands at the moment 😂🤦‍♀️

Are you making time for yourself this weekend, what are your plans?

23/02/2022

6 months in 6 months out ♥️

Oh the stories I could tell you in between these photos 🤣

Nine months between the pictures and my body feels worlds away from me at six months pregnant.

Photos really don't sum up what's happening on the inside, so while I fit back into my close I don't feel physically back to how my body was before Max.

Don't be fooled by those 'before & afters'! Fitting into your pre baby clothes or being a pre baby weight are quite often a goal for mums but it isn't a sign that your postpartum healing and recovery has finished.

For me, there is nothing better than feeling strong and unstoppable in your body (whether you fit back into those jeans or size up!).

I'm still exercising to strengthen my body and support it post baby, it's a journey of love and patience that's not always easy.

I am proud of my body, of how it is now and what it has done but I am also really excited to get back to my big lifting, skipping and seeing what my body is capable of in this next chapter.

How many months pp are you and what goals do you have?

What is Strong Mama Collective?

A community built to inspire and empower women so they feel fit, strong and body confident during pregnancy and motherhood.

Things that are close to my heart are:

-Give yourself the love, respect and care your body & mind needs

-You can workout and be strong, powerful and pain-free in pregnancy

-You deserve to and can re-strengthen your body to feel confident, fit and like yourself again with exercise, so that nothing holds you back physically.

-20 minutes a day will boost your energy, mindset and work wonders for your body

-Let's stop the embarrassment and start the empowerment

I believe in exercise, movement, education, nutrition, meditation and a supportive community to fully empower mums.

I'd love you to be a part of our community, give a say hi and tag a mama who needs to hear this!

19/01/2022

Please read that again 👆

What does 'getting your body back' mean to you?

The terms 'bounce back' and 'get your body back' are talked around so much as a new mum and you can feel a lot of pressure for your body to look like it didn't have a baby... but it did and that's amazing!

Your body didn't go anywhere it had just changed and it doesn't bounce back, it gradually and naturally heals which takes time.

And can you even get your body back?
Maybe not back to 100% how it was before pregnancy as it's had a huge physical change, but you can get your body back in the sense of how it feels to you.

I'm working to get my body back so I can...
•Go on a trampoline with my son without thinking (like I would have pre-pregnancy)
•Be able to run or sprint without any leaking, pain, discomfort or worry
•Stand tall with confidence in my posture, that's had one hell of a change.
•Trust my body will always be there for me when I need it, to be strong for every day with whatever life throws at me, especially with two boys!
•Feel strong and confident in my body! Goodbye weakened core and mum bum!

Exercise can give you so much more than just aesthetical results. ❤

What does getting your body back mean to you, how do you want to feel?

01/01/2022

This new year I have made a promise to myself to keep making progress and not get caught up on perfection.

Don't let perfection, pressure or a vision of how something 'should' be hold you back in 2022! 🍃

This is with everything from health, fitness, being a mum, pretty much your whole life.

So....

You don't always get to finish a workout, but you DID show up and move your body.

Sometimes you do a workout in your pj's (but who's watching?!).

Your nutrtion for the day wasn't 'perfect' but you did make healthier choices for yourself (also I don't think there is a thing for perfect nutrtion just good choices).

Some days your the most calm patient mum and some days are tougher and you can't wait for bedtime.

BUT if you keep showing up, trying your best and be consistent, you will be able to do, be and achieve everything you want with a little progress everyday. 🌱🌻

2022 is all about keeping it simple, being present and making myself proud. What's your mantra or resolution for the year?

And Happy New Year from my family to yours! 🎆 🥰
