Kingsbridge Antique Centre

Very happy to announce that Fourteen A is up and running. It's been a very busy week. We have been totally overwhelmed by the reception we have received from everyone in Modbury. I personally am so happy to be back and to see customers from 20 years ago! Do pop in if you're in Modbury. We're open Monday to Saturday 10.15 to 4.30.

Sadly still no news of anyone taking over the Kingsbridge Antique Centre's page but I will update if someone sees this and updates me.

Ok folks, this is it in a nutshell! I am waiting to hear if someone from the Centre will be able to take over posting on this FB page. I will update when I get any information. This page is on hold for the time being as the person who started it and updates it is no longer in the Centre. She is busy planning and organising the opening of her shop in Modbury which has been let for the last 20 years. Watch out for announcements nearer the beginning of June 2024!

This rather lovely vintage foil bead necklace appeared in the Centre today (in the window on the black velvet display with other necklaces). All the beads have been washed and re-strung with some new silver lined seed beads and new silver clasp. Also new in this afternoon is another stretch bracelet which has also been made of vintage glass beads from a broken necklace. This can be seen in the window on a display of earrings behind the Kashmiri papier mache boxes.

Extremely rare double pack set of playing cards produced as a marketing tool by Hoover. Featuring their new washing machine/ringer and upright vacuum cleaner (pre-dating the Hoover Junior). Date unknown but suggest 1940s/50s.

The yellow blue and red vintage glass necklaces on the left of the photo have just been re-strung with new silver clasps and are now available to purchase. Can be seen in the window.

Three gorgeous vintage crystal necklaces re-strung today with new clasps. They will appear in the Centre before the weekend.

Brian Wildsmith. The Easter Story.
One of the greatest children's book illustrators produced many classic books in his lifetime. Here is one he wrote and illustrated in 1993. This is the new edition, in mint condition.

Added to the window this afternoon, a small collection of gorgeous unusual hand made vintage Kashmiri papier mache boxes. Both hare boxes can house an Easter egg but I've filled them both with miniature chocolate eggs for the purchaser!
NOTE: Saturday 16 March: the stripy hare box has sold. The others are still available with another Kashmiri box joining the collection this afternoon.

Florence: Art and Architecture. A most beautiful book. Over 500 superb photographs with a very informative text. Hardback. 528 pages. Excellent condition. Currently £50, reduced from £75! See this and many other quality books on dstarbooks in room 3 next to the office downstairs.

House Auction Poster CHILLINGTON 1942

This poster and several estate agent details for local houses and farms have just been put on display at the Antiques Centre by Paul Davies of Kingsbridge Books. Fascinating historical documents especially if you know the properties.

Old large scale OS maps of the local area have just arrived!

Kingsbridge Books has just displayed a selection of large scale maps from
1907 in the Antiques Centre.
They are very reasonably priced . None above £10 and they cover villages
such as Malborough, Modbury, Chillington, Torcross and Stokenham.
Come and spot your house or farm!
Several have already sold but there are plenty left.

Wonderful news! From tomorrow morning, Monday 22, Kingsbridge Police Station reopens for the reporting of crimes/incidents.

Small boys have already prepared themselves for the event.
