Good Morning everyone. It's finally that time of year again. Hull Scribbler's 10th issue is fast approaching and the theme will be announced soon. But first let's meet the team.
Hey everyone! Just so you know, the theme for Issue 10 has been decided for quite some time, and we will reveal it before Christmas in preparation for submissions officially opening in the new year.
In the meantime, our friends at Document 1 have opened submissions for their next release, so if you already have something suitable for them, or their theme 'Coming of Age' gets the cogs whirring, why not send them something?
Also, the fifth and final member of the 2023-24 Scribbler team will be decided at the EGM on the 8th. If you are interested in becoming an Editor or at least willing to help us choose who is, remember you must have paid your English Society membership before the EGM starts.
You can join the society here: https://hulluniunion.com/activities/view/english-society
The EGM will be held in Bookable Room 2 in the Union at 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday:

Good evening everyone. Today, Hull Scribbler turns a new page as I step down from my role as Acting Chief Editor and hand off to Lilliana, who will be Chief Editor for Issue 9.
(Remember, we still have up to three Editor positions available, and you'll be able to run for one of them in an EGM in autumn, if you would like to.)
I may not have been the official Chief Editor, and certainly at times it was very hard to balance it with my other responsibilities, like being the Society President, trying to make a living, and keeping up with my PhD. Nonetheless, Scribbler achieved the goals I wanted to see it achieve this year: I'm proud to have had a first printed copy in 4 years (in what was a bigger print run than we've ever done before), as well as compiling the largest ever issue of Hull Scribbler in any format.
'Emergence' was a massive undertaking, but was very much worth it; we had some amazing submissions and I'm very pleased to have been able to work with you all, get to know you in some cases, and, I hope, help you improve your craft. Hopefully we'll be in touch again somehow, given I'm not planning on going anywhere for a while, but for now, at least, that's it from me.
Many thanks,
Adam.
:)
Hey folks! Those who requested copies of Issue 8: 'Emergence' via post should have received them last week. Since then, we've finally got around to producing and uploading the digital version, which you can now access on our website here: https://hullscribbler.com/issue-8-emergence/
It's not just that it's got a whopping 94 pages, but in the process of adapting 'Emergence' to a more readable digital format, we did a cheeky word count and, well... it's only the biggest EVER issue of Hull Scribbler! :D
So if you didn't get a chance to grab one of the snazzy print issues (though do please just ask us - we've got quite a few going spare), you can still read it :)
It's here! After a months-long submission and editing phase and dozens of hours of compiling the finished presentation, Issue 8 is finally in our hands. We will be here until 6, then we'll be at the HU Writes Showcase, and after that you'll be able to ask us if we can get a copy to you somehow. Adam is making a list of people who would like copies posting to them, so please do get in touch if that applies to you. Ed Hurst will also take some copies to give to people, so by all means, ask him at some point. The Scribbler team are very proud of this anthology, which is the biggest we've ever put to print, and we really hope you like it :)
