After what seems like a long break from playing games (thanks to the weather!!), the Vikings were back at it on Sunday, playing in the next round of the cup, away at Willerby and Westella.
Both teams started the game paying their respects for Remembrance Sunday by upholding a minutes silence prior to kick off.
The game started slow but Vikings soon got stuck into the game with a great shot from Ema giving them an early lead. Through the first half Vikings were strong and started putting pressure on the Willerby defence. More goals followed with Downs adding two more goals before half time.
Second half and again Vikings took control playing confidently and showing some great passing of the ball. Owst came out of goal and scored a great goal making it 4-0 to the Vikings
15 minutes from the end Willerby and Westella were given a penalty which they converted- the keeper got a foot to it but was unlucky with the ricochet into the net- 1-4. Vikings responded well to the pressure from Willerby and Westella with Long putting away the 5th and final goal of the match for the Vikings.
Final score 1-5: Vikings move on to the quarter finals
Coach’s player of the match was shared between Salter and Downs
Parents players of the match was split between Owst and Burt
Well done team- fantastic effort from all and thanks to Willerby and Westella for hosting.
Today was the teams first ever home game for their new club as they welcomed Riley Rangers to Liberty Green.
The whole team put in yet another fantastic display of football, constantly moving the ball forward, working well as a team and showing some excellent passing skills, some top goal keeping when needed, and lots of amazing goals.
Vikings came away victorious with the game ending 12-1.
Goals from Ema x6, Salter, Burt, Jesney, Owst, Downs x2.
Todays MOTM went to Max for bagging himself 6 goals, constantly pushing forward and being a threat to the opposition throughout the game. Top effort Max very well deserved.
Todays PPOTM went to Charlie, who also bagged himself a goal and covered most of the pitch with both his runs forward and tracing back to help defend. Yet again very well deserved Charlie.
Well done boys and well done team on another fantastic game
