๐Ÿ”งโœจ **Tackled an Intermittent Nightmare and Emerged Victorious!** โœจ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

Recently, a call came in from a local garage owner facing a peculiar issue with their MOT brake testing machine. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ It had been haunted by an intermittent fault for almost two years - a circuit board that decided to play hide-and-seek with the computer every time the temperature dropped. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

The garage owner, in a moment of DIY brilliance, resorted to using a small heater in the box. Yet, over time, the problem escalated. That's when he dialed my number, hoping for a tech wizard to conjure up a solution. โš™๏ธ๐Ÿ”

Now, how does one pinpoint a sneaky issue like this without playing a guessing game or swapping out every part? Enter my one-man tool arsenal: freeze spray! ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ I heated the board and strategically sprayed in suspect areas. In mere minutes, I had the culprit cornered - the Ethernet control IC. A closer look revealed a mischievous SMD electrolytic capacitor underneath, its ESR and capacitance values way off track. A quick swap, and voilร , the board reconnected without the need for artificial heating. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ๐Ÿ”„

The customer's delight mirrored my own as the real test came the next day when the temperature dropped to zero. An ecstatic call confirmed the board was still going strong, no lost connections in sight! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿš€

It's incredible how one tiny capacitor can wreak havoc in an entire system. These problem-solving missions are what I thrive on, and witnessing my growth of both skills and knowledge is truly rewarding. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ”ฅ **Soldering Chronicles: From Chaos to Clarity!** โšก

Warning: Soldering Action Ahead! Hold onto your seats and avert your eyes if you're squeamish. ๐Ÿ˜…

A customer strolled in recently with a DJ mixing deck that had a serious case of Ethernet port woes. You see, he had a *very* confident friend who claimed he could handle the repair. Well, let's just say, he might have missed his calling as a butcher, because this was the end result! ๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿ”ช

But fear not, that's where the real hero steps in! I got to work, tackling that messy solder and carefully removing the port to assess the damage. You know what they say, it often looks worse before it gets better. There were a few missing traces, but the vias were close by, making it a breeze to run some new tracks. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ”ง

This is my kind of challenge, folks. The customer had brought it while I was in the middle of another task, but I couldn't resist. I dove right in and gave it my all. I called the customer soon after, and you should've seen the smile on his face when he arrived with the rest of his gear to test the board. Priceless, I tell you! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ฅ

There's nothing quite like the joy of making your day a little brighter, seeing those grins of satisfaction when I've rescued your beloved gear. ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”Œ **Reviving the Juice Masters!** ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ›

Recently, a local apple juice company brought in their trusty Vigo Presses pasteuriser, which had gone *boom* while in the hands of a friend, causing an electric meltdown. โšก

With a heart for problem-solving, I dove in and stripped this machine down. Lo and behold, there it was - an internal fuse that had bravely sacrificed itself. But life in this field is never dull, you know. Every day, it's a new adventure, and I'm constantly learning to conquer fresh challenges. ๐Ÿงฐ๐Ÿคฏ

After some intense research and rigorous testing, it came down to one last suspect - the heating element. Now, what sets Vigo Presses apart is their treasure trove of spares available on their website. With a few clicks, I ordered a shiny new element, got it fitted, and voilร , the pasteuriser's back in action, turning apples into liquid gold once more! ๐Ÿฅค๐Ÿ

๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ”Œ Hot Tub Power Unit Rescued! ๐Ÿš€

Let me share a fantastic repair adventure with you! A customer brought in their hot tub power unit, plagued by an intermittent power fault and a main pump that refused to turn off. ๐Ÿ›

Based on the customer's description, I had a hunch it might be one of those tricky relays causing the pump mischief. Opening this thing up was no easy feat, but with determination, I cracked the case. ๐Ÿงฐ

Inside, I spotted some bulging capacitors, clear culprits behind the power hiccup. And one relay, it practically screamed "I'm the problem" - burn marks gave it away. ๐Ÿคฏ When tested, it was stuck in the 'on' position, no wonder the pump wouldn't quit!

With careful precision, I removed the conformal coating to access the solder, replaced all the faulty components, and reapplied the conformal coating for protection. ๐Ÿ’ช

The result? One ecstatic customer! Everything's humming along as it should, and those hot tub parties are back on track. ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒด

๐Ÿ”Œ Job Done and Hoverboard Saved! โšก๏ธ

Just wrapped up an exciting repair job! A customer brought in a hoverboard that was sparking when they tried to plug in the charger. ๐Ÿ›ด After a quick diagnosis, I realized the entire board was shorted and got to work tracking down the issue.

It turned out that 3 out of the 6 N-Channel Mosfets were causing the trouble. The challenge? These components were tough to find, but that didn't stop me! ๐Ÿ’ช I had to do some calculations to find suitable equivalents and decided to replace all 6 for good measure. After some waiting, the new Mosfets arrived, and I set to work assembling this hoverboard puzzle.

With careful fitting and meticulous testing, I finally brought the hoverboard back to life. ๐Ÿ›น The thrill was real as I saw it spring into action when I plugged in the charger! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Had the chance to fix this power board from an LG 86QNED996PB 80-inch TV.

The engineer didn't put the backing on when refitting it which resulted in a huge power surge, the backing stops the components from coming into contact with any metal which would cause this. They then decided to leave the customer in the lurch and said it couldn't be fixed.

To the rescue, here I come, it was quite a simple fix, just a fuse and a couple of diodes. Luckily the arc hadn't caused any more damage to the board. I often find that it looks a lot worse before clean up, the board had survived and only took a couple of components. The hardest part of this job was finding a fuse to match, T15AH250V lead-footed fuses aren't easy to come by but I got there eventually.

Another job boxed off with yet another happy customer.

๐Ÿ”ง Job Chronicles: The Programmable Microchip Saga ๐Ÿ”Œ๐Ÿ’”

Sometimes, being an electrionic engineer comes with unexpected challenges! ๐Ÿ’ผ Recently, I had a job from a local quarry that was struck by lightning โšก, resulting in multiple failures across their systems.

A team of electrical engineers managed to fix most of the issues, but they were stumped when it came to a malfunctioning control units circuit board.

With operations at a standstill, the urgency was evident, and that's when they reached out to me for help. ๐Ÿ’ป I knew it wouldn't be a walk in the park, but I accepted the challenge. I did mention my concern with the programmable IC but decided to see what I could do.

After some fault-finding, I identified that a voltage regulator was not outputting the correct 3.3V. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ The root of the problem was a group of Op Amps at the top of the board that were shorted out, causing the whole board to stop functioning.

I ordered replacements and eagerly installed them, watching as the board came to life. ๐ŸŒŸ It seemed like success was within reach, but there was a twist in the tale. Sadly, I couldn't fully test the board's functions since it needed to be connected to its unit. Nonetheless, everything appeared fine, and the correct voltage was flowing throughout the board.
But just when I thought it was over, I received a call from the engineer saying it's still not working! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Hoping to salvage the situation, I tried to retrieve the code from the Microchip, only to find it was read-protected, leaving me with a blank code. ๐Ÿ’” It was a heartbreaking end to the job, and there was nothing more I could do.

As engineers, we know that sometimes the simplest tasks can turn into daunting nightmares. ๐Ÿ˜“ But we never back down from a challenge!

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Saved this customer over ยฃ1000! ๐Ÿ’ช

Recently, I had the pleasure of working on a job for a fantastic local company that specializes in crafting worktops and kitchen essentials. They were facing an issue with their Elcon Vertical Panel Saw - the LCD counter indicating its vertical axis position was acting up.

I had a hunch about the root cause, and it turned out I was right! The culprit was a bulging capacitor - a 1000uf one, to be precise. This capacitor is responsible for smoothing the signal and removing AC fluctuations, working in tandem with another capacitor to ensure a steady DC signal. However, due to its damage, the system was not performing as intended. My tester also revealed that it was reading as 45pf, way off its scale.

A diode had also been cut out of the circuit by one of the engineers, so I got that replaced while I was at it.

Thankfully, we had the necessary parts in stock, which allowed me to provide a quick fix! The repaired board was back to the customer in no time, which is crucial for any business. As we all know, downtime means lost money, and we don't like that, do we? ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿ”ง Saved this customer ยฃ400! ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ก

Just had an exciting repair challenge with a Caple C850i Induction Hob! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ It had blown one of its IC's TNY279PN, a common issue I've encountered in these devices. For those wondering, the IC is an offline switcher, which means it regulates voltage or current in electronics independently of the mains voltage line. ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ”Œ

The real challenge arose as the top of the IC had blown off and no schematic was available! ๐Ÿค” So, I put my engineering skills to the test and reverse-engineered part of the circuit to identify the right replacement. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’ก After some hard work, I finally found a suitable alternative and got it fixed! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”ง

But that's not all! During the fault-finding process, I discovered more hidden issues โ€“ one side of the bridge rectifier had gone short, along with a schottky diode closer to the output. ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ” Thankfully, I managed to address these problems too, ensuring a complete and successful repair. ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ”ง

Now, the customer can get back to making his culinary delights with the fully functional Caple C850i Induction Hob! ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฒ If you ever face any appliance troubles, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help! ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ“ข Exciting News! ๐ŸŽ‰

I had the incredible opportunity to save a local company a ton of money and time recently! ๐Ÿคฉ They came to me with an issue regarding their paper counter modules, which are essential components in industrial bookmaking collators. ๐Ÿ“š

These modules consist of a light and optical receiver that count each paper as it passes through. Whenever the paper passes, the optical receiver's resistance changes from zero ohms, effectively adding 1 to the count. It's a simple yet ingenious invention!

It turns out that these paper counter modules often break down, causing frustration and inefficiency for the company. But fear not, my friends, for I came to the rescue! ๐Ÿ’ช The only thing that had failed in these modules was the bulb, which was an easy fix for me. I had the chance to put my heat shrink skills to use and make these modules even better than they were originally! The result? One very happy customer! ๐Ÿ˜„
