Next week is our 12th week of online training. As martial artists we should constantly strive to challenge ourselves and I think we can all agree this has been a challenge, one we have tackled head on. Well done to everyone who has complied and done their part in helping slow down the spread of the virus ๐ฆ ๐๐ป everyone has played an important role. Thank you to all of the key workers that have continued to keep the country running ๐๐ป ๐๐ป
And well done to all of those that have trained (whether with me online, or at home in your own time) during this time keeping your passion alive for karate ๐ฅ forget โwe will returnโ........we never left ๐๐ป see you at training!
Good afternoon everyone! Iโm looking forward to getting week no. 8 of our online training underway this evening. Weโll be looking at some reaction training, combinations, kicking drills and some kata ๐ฅ
Here are some of the kicks entered for the competition I ran last week. A huge well done to everyone who took part ๐๐ป some fantastic technique on display. See you in class ๐๐ป๐ฅ
The support I have received from my students has been wonderful during this time ๐ฅ I could not have asked for any more. Parents you have been great too. Weโve adapted quickly and weโre all still learning. This way of training is of course not ideal but is far better than not training at all. We still have interaction with each other and during this time of social distancing I feel is important. Personally I am finding teaching these sessions uplifting and itโs great seeing you all! Keep up the hard work ๐๐ป
A huge well done to all the students who have continued their training online. I think itโs important we keep as much routine and structure over the coming months as possible. Keeping up with your classes is one way of achieving this. Itโs a supplement for training in the dojo and weโre making the best out this scenario ๐ฅ
For those training tomorrow evening I will see you then ๐๐ป keep up the hard work!
I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has got stuck into the online sessions with me. Itโs been a challenge to say the least and has pushed me outside of my comfort zone. They say this is where you grow the most ๐ฅ
Here are just a few of the comments from some of our students :
- โLesson was great and was nice to see you again. Kids loved it.โ
- โThank you so much for running it! It was really interactive and using the towels made it really accessible for people at home. Being able to keep training is brilliant and I really enjoyed itโ
- โWe really enjoyed it. I thought it went smoothly. Much needed lift of the spirits in our house ๐ค thank you!โ
- โShe loved it, first time Iโve seen her smile in a good few days!!โ
Thanks again everyone, keep up the training, keep up the hard work and I look forward to our next class, see you then ๐๐ป
Good evening all. This could have been a very difficult post to write, but itโs not. Itโs not because weโve taken some control back from this situation we are in. As of Monday our classes WILL continue but will now be online until this is all over. All of my students who have shown an interest in continuing their training online should be up to date now with all the details you need to get training. If you not then please make sure you let me know! We have a fantastic karate community and I know weโll all come out the other side of this stronger than ever before.
I look forward to seeing you in class ๐ฅ๐๐ป
Well done to all those that trained yesterday! All classes are still currently on. Whilst training is still on please can parents and students please wash their hands on arrival. We will be avoiding contact as much a possible working on footwork, co ordination and agility drills as well as line work, kata and traditional techniques. There is plenty we can still do ๐๐ป
I donโt plan to close classes until the government close schools and tell us to do so. When/if they do I will be looking to move the classes online.
This will give students the opportunity to train and keep in a strong mindset whilst we are going through this very bizarre time.
I have been working alongside Kate over the last few days to figure out the best way to do this.
Please do stay away from training if you are not feeling well as per the government guidelines. Students/parents just need to do what they feel is right for themselves and their families! ๐ฅ
Finally, try to stay positive and for our children try not to panic. They need to see us calm and collected. Take care everyone ๐๐ป
Following on from the post yesterday on the NSTK members page, if you have any symptoms of the virus even if it is simply a persistent cough or a cold we ask that you give the course and grading a miss and wait until later in the year.
Thanks for your understanding, we have to think of the health and welfare of all our students, instructors and their families!
On a separate note, well done to our certificate winners this week, Oscar, Seth, Hattie and James! Keep up the hard work ๐ฅ๐๐ป
Well done to everyone who trained last week. This week is the last week of training before the course and grading next weekend (Saturday 14th at Warwick School). For those grading itโs time to make sure youโre 100% ready. Students not grading please do your best to attend the course, itโs a fantastic opportunity to train with other students and instructors from different clubs as well as training with the boss Ivan Riley ๐ฅ see you in class ๐๐ป
A few of our certificate winners from last weeks classes. James and Lily from our Harbury class on Monday and Ben and Lara from Tuesdays session. Well done all, keep up the hard work!
Karate is on as normal this week across all classes. Look forward to seeing you there ๐ฅ
I have complete respect for anyone who decides to step on the mats and compete. To all the competitors that took part in this weekends competition across all the clubs, well done. Win or lose itโs about learning and gaining experience. Itโs not given to you on a plate, hard work and determination will see results. All of the greatest martial artists and athletes will have had losses to overcome, itโs just about learning from them and moving forward!
On a separate note I had to share this head kick from Letitia that secured her the win. Well done again all and I look forward to getting back in the dojo with you this week ๐ฅ๐๐ป
Training as normal this week, starting with our Harbury session this evening for the juniors and seniors. Hope to see you there ๐ฅ๐๐ป
Well done to our certificate winners last week, Kitty, Mya, Jaiden, George and Brody!
