August is Psoriasis Awareness Month. Psoriasis affects 125 million people worldwide. In the UK around 2 in 100 people suffer with it. It can start at any age but usually develops in adults between 20-30 and 50-60 years old. It affects men and women equally.

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition which causes the rapid build up of skin cells, this build up can lead to scaling on the skins surface. Usually skin cells develop deep within the skin and slowly rise to the surface before shedding. Skin cell life cycle is usually around a month. With psoriasis this process can occur over a couple of days, leading to a build up.

Keeping skin hydrated and treating skin cells from the inside out will all help to treat psoriasis. Vitamin A is vital in building healthy skin cells and boosting immunity.

Another super sunny day in store for us all ☀️ we just wanted to touch on the importance of your SPF

SPF usage is important every single day of the year but making sure you are reapplying liberally every 2 hours on these sunnier days is vital!

A broad spectrum SPF is necessary to protect against both UVA ‘aging’ and UVB ‘burning’ rays.

Make sure you are applying enough, as you can see in the picture two fingers worth or a spoonful is perfect for face and neck!
