At Farnley Community Centre, we have Farnley, Gildersome & Driglington children’s centre services each Wednesday and from the 6th of November, they will be back at a new time of 10:00-11:30.

There is no need to book and you are welcome to just call in.

I'm starting to look at putting the Farnley & Wortley Santa Sleigh plans in place as we now go into its fourth year of doing this.

I am looking at how we can improve the route/experience etc and I am open to suggestions. Typically I have done it over two nights splitting the ward into two halves and doing it that way with various stop-off locations.

Some of the ones that I have down are as follows:
Farnley Community Centre Near the Terminus
New Farnley Community Centre
Hanover Arms Eleanor Lindley
Queensthorpes on Gambles
Tong Estate near old Fernlea Pub
Cobdens
Various points on Kirkdales & Kelletts.

Obviously, the route is much larger than this but if you can think of streets that have potentially been missed over the years let me know. Please be mindful that we need to be able to get in and out of the street with the trailer.

For those that call in or know us at the centre, we’re delighted to announce that Tara has finally had the baby and both are well. 👶🥰
With that said we can now get back to our usual Fridays at the cafe. 🍽️

Unfortunately, the Community Cafe won't be open tomorrow following us recently having had work carried out on the water supply in our area this has caused issues with our hot water system, meaning we have no hot water for the time being whilst we await parts.

Please be advised that Yorkshire Water have informed us that the water may be turned off sometime between 11 & 2 to property’s on Hall Lane, so we may have to shut a little earlier than planned, so be sure to come along early to avoid missing out. 😃

Today we will have our welcome space running in which you can come for a chat and have a free warm drink.

We are also thrilled to announce that our lovely Money Buddy Robert has volunteered his time to attend our Tuesday sessions so please do take advantage of his free advice if you need help with benefits or debts etc.

We will also have our Timeout Tuesday with Barca making stain glass window patterns.

Apologies to those that have attempted to access the Money Buddies service in the past couple of weeks but it would appear that funding has been cut for them to attend the community centre and we have not been informed of this.
Whilst this is deeply disappointing on both counts of having the funding cut and not being informed we will look to seek alternative services and we will continue to support you in other ways that we can.

As part of our Welcome Space each Tuesday we now have Lorna supporting us from BARCA, on alternate Tuesdays. 😁

As part of our Welcome Space, you can enjoy a cuppa and a chat, have use of a computer 🖥️ and games console 🎮 and use the free Wi-Fi 🛜.

Starting this Tuesday 7th of May. Free to attend and no need to book.
