Currently there are 10 places left and for any chance of winning one of these awards, to quote a well-known saying “you have to be in it to win it”.

One of the last remaining traditional single lap moorland event's.
Surviving due to the generosity of the Farmers and Land owners in the area , 30 + miles almost all off road .

Question? What takes around 2000 flags? Months of preparation including 4 solid days before the event? 40 observers? The hard work of many of out members from IT gurus, course markers and just scrubbers, of sections that is? And partaking in several pints in the base camp of Hawes.

If you answered the TrialsUK White Rose National trial then you're right. Enteries are now open to one of the best one day events in the calendar.

RAY FERGUSON
Sad news , we have recently heard that former West Leeds member Ray Ferguson has recently passed away.
Ray was an active member of the club who would help organise and be a regular observer at our events.
The funeral will be held a Cottingley Crematorium on the 5th of July at 3.15 pm followed by a celebration of his life at Morley Cricket Club.

After spending all day Saturday, digging, shifting, plotting, riding and planting flags. 14 sections were waiting for the Stan Pitts trial.

We were rewarded with nearly 40 enteries. Some say this is a shame for the kind of trial this is. However, just to keep this fantastic piece of land in use keeps us going.

Hardly June weather was on the agenda with brief rain showers and small chinks of sunshine. I say brief, hardly any! We were over run with observers and were very thankful that every section was marshalled.

It seemed the sections got a little harder as the day wore on, so, those that got off early probably had the best of the going.

One thing that Halton Gill offers is a good ride around. So, a simple section becomes an arduous task when arm pump has set in on the third lap.

Danny Gamble was the top dog with Dave Petty topping the clubman A and riding an immaculate 90's Gas Gas Anthony Ayrton was triumphant on clubman B with Paul Gravlstock keeping him on his toes with another retro ride on the twinshock Fantic.

We hope you all enjoyed yourself and tell your friends for next year.

The marking out team, John and Greg Kershaw, Dennis Pitts, Simon Cassidy and Mark Chippendale. The observers, we were so lucky to be over subscribed! and of course the riders, the rain held off as well. Hope you all enjoyed it we look forward to seeing you all next year.

So, good news. For this year's event at Halton Gill we've acquired some new land! This will mean new sections and fresh moor to ride along. It will also mean a longer lap and we'll have to plant some more course marking flags!

Only a few days left to get your entry in for what will be a good event. Observers are also required and with this new land if you have a bike it would be a massive help. The weather aint looking bad either.

HALTON GILL SUNDAY 9th JUNE .
For all those who still think the trial is just a ride up the stream in the start field, here is an overall view of the area we use, the start field being lower left of centre , we're hoping to run 3 laps of 14 sections so any offers to observe with or without bikes would be greatly appreciated and all will recieve £20 expenses for their service's

After running 5 events at Post Hill, we're now looking forward to a weekend in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales that is fabulous Littondale,
We'll be running a 3 lap 14 section course of roughly 3 miles per lap , Natural Scottish style sections what's not to like ?

A question was asked what's the difference between Novice and Beginner's?
Ok , presuming it was refering to the section severity , the Novice (hard) course is about the same as the Clubman B (easy) course in Yorkshire Centre events , the 50/50 course is obviously easier and the Beginner's is just that , entry level sections for riders new to the sport

BRIAN SMITH
The Scottish 6 days is upon us , it seems to come round quicker as the years go by .
This is a photo kindly donated by his son Andrew of former West Leeds secretary and Screenart Beta sponsor Brian Smith in scottish action .
Back in the day Brian raised WL to a different level with his sponsorship of our C&D Nationals , team shirts for our youth riders and dragging the club into the 21st century with his use of those new fangled computer things !
He passed away far too young and is still missed by every one who knew him.
