The Ship of Theseus, or Theseus's Paradox, is a thought experiment as to whether an object is the same object after having had all of its original components replaced over time.

By the same token – rather than changing the oil in your machine – lets repeatedly top it up ! ; does this make for new oil ?

Topping up machine oil just adds to the particulate; the particles can’t be diluted – they just aren’t soluble, and they can’t be used up – indeed if they are allowed to travel perpetually around the system to cause abrasion and consequently even more particles!

And then there is the assumption that you’ve topped up the additives! – whilst yes there is an element of this – if you are topping up dirty oil then the additives are used up even more quickly to try and balance and resolve the issues caused by the existing contaminants and sludges –

so the answer is NO!
