The best Christmas gift ever for kids AND parents!

Ad | Toniebox is a musical storybox that brings your kid’s favourite books and characters to life, keeping them entertained and engaged, without a screen in sight.

The Toniebox is proven to boost children’s speech and reading skills in only four months, by exposing them to hundreds of new words.

Lula’s had hers for about 2 years now and uses it every single day - chilling in her room, in the car on long journeys (with matching headphones of course!) and in bed after we’ve read her a story to help her get to sleep.

There’s a special range of sleepy Tonies for this very purpose, alongside over 100 other characters, from Disney favourites including Elsa and Anna to classic books such as The Gruffalo and Matilda.

And it’s now super easy to find the best Tonies for your little ones, with the newly launched Tonies Christmas Shop 🎅

Everything has been organised according to ages, interests, bestsellers and genres, saving you loads of time with your Christmas shopping.

THE 3 BIGGEST MISTAKES I MADE WHEN BECOMING A MUM 24/10/2023

We all make mistakes (many, MANY mistakes) when we first become parents...

Putting on nappies the wrong way round, forgetting to sterilise bottles, leaving baby too close to the edge of the bed!

The whole journey is just one big process of trial and error.

But there were three fundamental mistakes I made before I had my first child that really took some work to overcome...

HOW TO DEAL WITH A SUSPECTED COW’S MILK ALLERGY IN YOUR BABY

1. Speak to your GP about your concerns. You’ll be given a leaflet on “the milk ladder” and get referred to a specialist.

2. Get a letter from the hospital confirming your paediatric allergy appointment.

3. Get another letter from the hospital saying you’ve cancelled two appointments in a row (you haven’t cancelled anything) and you’re being discharged back to the care of your GP.

4. Get another letter saying your child doesn’t need a hospital appointment, they need to be booked into a local clinic.

5. Get another letter saying you have an appointment with a dietician.

6. Get another letter saying that appointment’s been cancelled due to the dietician going on strike.

7. Get another letter saying your dietician (who’s never met your baby) has identified that he needs to start “the milk ladder”. Get the same leaflet you were given on day 1 with your GP.

8. If you need further advice, call the number provided and leave a voicemail . Otherwise we’ll assume you no longer need support.

Thanks NHS 👍🏻

Empowered women empower women 🙌🏻

Full on. Full out. Full force.

This photo was taken last night at the Golden Globes when Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress for her role in "Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

Look at Jamie Lee Curtis.

Look. At. Her.

You can feel her energy, her fire, her power.

Her excitement, joy and passion for Michelle is palpable. The photo moves. It vibrates.

If you saw this photo without context, you may think that it was actually *Jamie* who won.

Ladies, this is your vibe for 2023.

Hype. Other. Women.

When she wins, fight the urge to question…

…who does she think she is?
…why is she getting attention?
…did she really deserve it?
…is she really that good?..what about me?

Guess what? The world has sold you a lie.

Her success doesn’t detract from yours.
Her wins don’t create your losses.
Her joy can’t steal the joy that’s meant for you.

De-condition and unlearn what you’ve been wired to think: that women are your competition.

It's a trap. Meant to distract us. And to keep us keeping each other down.

Find your Jamie.
Hype their Jamie.
Be her Jamie.

What? I’m not crying, you’re crying 😭

Do you know that feeling when you wake up in the middle of the night and it’s cold and your diaper feels heavy. And there are so many strange sounds all around you, and it’s dark and scary. And you get a hit in your head and it’s your hand that’s on its own adventure. And you can’t control it at all and it flings itself around and scratches your face and pulls at your hair. And your legs start kicking off the duvet, even though you’re cold as it is and you try to make it stop but they have their own will. And so you’re lying there completely helpless with flailing limbs that want to do everything, but none of the things you want.

And you can’t find mom. And you call for her and you find yourself feeling really scared. What if your beloved mom doesn’t come for you. You can’t imagine anything worse and you start to cry because you miss her so terribly. You have never felt as alone as this very moment.

And then she is suddenly there. Standing right by your bed and looking at you with worry and love. And she is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. And you grin up at her with happiness and relief. You don’t think you’ve ever felt as happy as this very moment.

And she picks you up and holds you close. And she smells like herself, and also a bit like you. Like milk and safety and love. And it’s the best smell in the whole entire world.

And she is warm and safe and soft and her hands caress you and she feeds you and hums your favourite tune. And you love her voice. You’ve known it far longer than you’ve really known her. It has lulled you to sleep and made you laugh and calmed you when you were distressed. It is the most beautiful voice in the whole entire world.

And you get to lie right up against her and you feel your entire body start to warm up again. And your still cold hand starts stroking her and moves up towards her neck and accidentally scratches her. Stupid uncontrollable hand. But mom doesn’t get angry. She takes your stupid hand in hers and it turns all warm again. And this is the best feeling in the world. Right here in mommy’s arms, with your hand in hers. Even the diaper doesn’t feel as horrible anymore.

And you feel your eyes getting heavy and you know that everything is okay now cause mommy is here. Your mom. Your wonderful, incredible mom who always looks after you. Night and day.

You look up at her one last time before you fall asleep. She looks tired and her eyes are closed, and yet she is still the most magnificent thing you know. How amazing that she wants to sit here with you in this moment. How amazing that she will always sit with you for a bit when you need her to.

You smile to yourself. How lucky you were that she became your mom. The most perfect mom anyone could have asked for.
You knew, even before you saw her, that she would be the best thing in the world.

Oh how you love her. Your mom❤️

Let’s normalise the full range of postpartum experiences 🙌🏻

Because if you were to base your understanding of what it’s like to have a baby on people’s Facebook posts you’d be forgiven for thinking…

🥰 Everyone feels totally “in love” with their newborn

🥰 All mums live in some kind of blissful glowy bubble for those first few weeks

🥰 All newborns are just gorgeous cuddly bundles of joy who you can’t bear to put down for more than a second

Of course you may indeed feel like this and if so, that’s absolutely wonderful 🙌🏻

But there’s also a good chance you may not, and that does not necessarily mean there’s anything wrong with you!

Becoming a mum is the biggest shock to the system, physically and mentally…

* Your body has been ravaged

* Your lifestyle’s been turned completely on its head

* You’re suddenly in charge of preserving the life of this tiny being who is completely and utterly dependent on you.

* You’re riding an insane rollercoaster of hormone changes that may leave you feeling like a hopeless emotional wreck.

Yet we all turn to Facebook and publish the standard post, telling anyone who asks that we’re “doing great”.

The more we talk about the realities of parenting, the less alone we’ll all feel.

And that’s not just postpartum, that’s all the way through babyhood, toddlerhood, childhood, teenagehood and beyond.

THIS 👏🏻 JOURNEY 👏🏻 IS 👏🏻 HARD 👏🏻 AF 👏🏻 MAMAS 👏🏻

And we are one of the first generations to properly open up about it, instead of just “getting on with it” (i.e. suppressing our true feelings to avoid burdening others)

Talking about it honestly makes you feel less alone, helps you to offload (which is hugely important for your mental wellbeing) and helps you to find solutions if you need them.

Do you agree? Have you ever felt the need to “filter” your motherhood experience for the benefit of others?

AD | Reduce the noises you don’t want to hear, keep the ones you do with Loop Earplugs 🙌🏻

Overstimulation is a very real cause of stress for parents!

Personally, I can’t cope with more than 2 or 3 conflicting sources of noise in the room.

If the TV’s on, my partner’s watching something on his phone and Lula starts playing with a musical toy, it’s a huge anxiety trigger for me.

I feel stressed-out, short-tempered and I’m way more likely to snap at someone for nothing.

But keeping noise to a minimum is easier said than done when you have kids, amirite?

Loop’s “Experience” Earplugs are designed specifically with parents in mind.

They reduce noise by 18 decibels so you can still hear everything, just not as loudly.

So all that rabble is brought down to a more manageable level, but you’re still alert to your children’s needs and won’t miss any emergencies.

If you struggle with overstimulation or perhaps work from home and find it hard to focus, I can highly recommend these earplugs!

Anyone else got an incessant talker? 😬

We often get compliments about how articulate Lula is for her age and don’t get me wrong… it makes me so proud 🥰

But ALL DAY BRO? 😅

It is almost constant chatter from the moment she wakes to the moment she goes to sleep!

As parents, of course we want nothing more than to encourage our children’s curiosity and conversation skills, but when it leaves no room to process your own thoughts, man it’s exhausting!

I found myself saying to her at one point today, “Lula darling, you’re being a little bit of a chatterbox and Mummy just needs to think for a sec”.

I got a generous 10 seconds.

Can you relate? Any tips for nicely getting them to shut the f*ck up?! 😂
