Urban Hives
bring honey bees to your workplace.
Yes… that’s right… just one thing on a male bee’s job list… mate with the queen 🙄 They don’t do any other work. ALL other tasks are achieved by the female members of the hive!
When a queen is ready to be mated with she leaves the hive. Male bees (drones) in the area will flock to her to compete mid flight to have their genetics passed on.
The sad thing is, once they have performed this important role they will fall to their death. Mission complete!… and that is the end of a male bees duties.
Another fantastic day - thank you so much to everyone who came… we sold out! So won’t be back tomorrow 🎅🏼
We will be here tomorrow 10am to 3pm… see you there???
The queen lays one egg per cell. Each cell has been built to perfection by worker bees.
In most of the cells, she lays a fertilized egg that will develop into a worker bee. In cells that are slightly larger than the worker cells, she lays unfertilized eggs that will grow into drones.
After just 3 days the egg hatches into a little maggot like thing called larvae.
The worker bees feed the larva royal jelly for the first few days and then switch to honey and pollen.
Our new labels have arrived! Just in time for on Sunday.
Cannot believe the quick and amazing service from … thank youuu x

Our little beekeeper
We will be selling our honey and giving information about our services at Chapel Allerton Market on Sunday 7th May… can’t wait to see you there!
It’s soon time to start checking on the hives…
So what do we do?…
We inspect our hives once a week throughout the spring and summer months. This ensures the hive stays healthy and happy.
We check for lots of things when inspecting your hives and like to spend around an hour with your bees. Is the queen present and laying? Has the colony got enough room? Does the colony have sufficient pollen and honey? Is the colony healthy?
Visiting our hives weekly means we can spot any problems early on and work help them.
Weekly inspections are included in all of our packages because they are so important to a healthy hive.
Have you considered hosting beehives at your workplace?
Bees symbolise hard work…
“busy as bees”
“Hive of activity”
Your business could be actively linked with these expressions.
Not only that but they boost biodiversity in your area, show your clients you care about the environment your business sits in… and let them taste your honey!
Adding Urban Hives to your business physically puts pollinators (bees) into the urban environment.
80% of wildflowers depend on insect pollination. Pollinators allow plants to fruit, seed and breed.
Imagine your business being responsible for the trees and flowers in your area thriving.
Adding Urban Hives to your business is a great way to boost your green credentials… and… you get to keep the honey!!!!
Bees help to increase biodiversity in cities by pollinating plants and flowers, leading to greater plant diversity, which provides habitats and food for other wildlife.
With our urban beekeeping service, you can make use of unused spaces on your rooftops and grounds to host your own honey bees.
