I experienced some amazing moments with clients
And of course spent another year with my little team
Things have definitely been looking up
Happy new year everyone!

You’re growing up
Every day you need me slightly less
Everyday it slowly feels like I’m saying goodbye to my little mate
Everyday it makes me that little bit more upset that time moves so quickly
But everyday I get to see you become more independent than the day before
Everyday I get to slowly greet the amazing boy you’re becoming
Everyday I am happier that I get to spend my time with you
Here’s many more days like these

Class night for my mums 60th
As a parent you need to stretch yourself thin at times
So there’s no surprise you might have tried something super complicated to shed some lbs quickly
Maybe some crazy hiit classes
Or a daft diet
It’s understandable
In reality the simple stuff gets overlooked 99% of the time
Even though it’s the most effective
Things like taking the stairs
Parking in the furthest parking spot
Making sure you consume protein each meal
Getting a good nights sleep
The reason they get forgotten
Is because they aren’t sexy
They don’t sell
But flash apps and hiit workouts do
Remind yourself, get the basic simple stuff nailed
And you’ll see more progress than you realise
This past weekend my client took on snowdon for the CALM charity
Safe to say his calves are in bits 😂
But I just wanted to talk a little about George
We’ve been good friends for a while now (10years 🤯)
And I know since he suffered a snowboarding injury he’s struggled to keep a handle on his weight and physical fitness
We then throw in a full time and very demanding job
It was the recipe for his own goals to be pushed into the background whilst he just trudged through life
But over the past 10-12 weeks that I’ve worked with George I’ve seen a real change in how he’s approached things when it comes to his health
He’s more prepared with his food, so the day doesn’t get out of hand
He’s more consistent with his tracking
And he’s working on being more consistent with his daily activity 👀
And this has lead him to be 10kg down so far…and I know there will be a lot more!

As a parent your time is valuable
You get pulled from pillar to post
And even then sometimes it can all change at the drop of a hat
So understandably you don’t want to spend 2 hours in the gym daily
In fact I bet you couldn’t do that even if you wanted to
But I bet you could find 45 mins somewhere?
If you looked in your google calendar hard enough
I even bet you could find that 2-3 times a week?
Because in reality that’s all it takes for you to achieve great things in the gym and help transform your physique
You don’t need a 2-3 hour slog followed by 30 minutes cardio
You can really get a lot done in 45 minutes
So find that time, and use it effectively
Do you fear that you might not be able to play with your child?
I can’t carry on because mummy needs a breather
Or daddy can’t pick you up because my back is bad
Sound familiar?
What if I told you that you can be that source of strength and fitness that can go all day when playing with your kids?
Because that statement is true
When you stop thinking of going to the gym and exercising as a chore
And think more along the lines of this will allow me to do so many things
Like be able to carry your kids without the fear of pain or shortness of breath
You have that ability 👊🏼
Today, I want to tell you about Zoe
Before Zoe invested in my 1-1 fat loss programme she was struggling with her confidence around body image.
The little things like doing double takes in the mirror and how it was making her feel when she was out and about.
Zoe hated the fact she couldn't break away from over restricting and binge eating.
Which led to her thinking she would be in this situation forever.
She’d already tried things like slimming world and weight watchers but found that they didn't help when it came to long term success.
They helped her lose 5-10lbs then within 3 months it would all come straight back on.
So when she came to me, she was understandably sceptical.
But over the next 3 months, here’s what happened -
- She learnt she didn't need to slave away doing endless HIIT classes to lose weight, freeing up loads more time to spend with her son and partner.
- She discovered she could enjoy all the foods she loved whilst still losing weight, making the whole process so much more enjoyable and easier to stick to.
- She found as the weight started coming off she had so much more energy!
Which made life generally easier..daily tasks that used to be tiring became effortless, as as she was so much more productive
What’s more, they did all this without following a boring as s**t meal plan.
Here’s what Zoe said about her journey -

You see a lot of success stories on social media
A lot of which will have come from someone following a meal plan to the tee
But what you don’t see is the number of people who have failed trying to follow said meal plan
Most of all how many parents like yourself have been tempted to try and follow a meal plan before throwing it in the bin after a day because it doesn’t allow any flexibility
And as you know, as a parent you have to be flexible…you have to have options.
Because after all who knows what those little bundles of joy will throw at you next
(I can tell you, it’s probably a toy and it’s probably at your head 😂)
But having the flexibility to adapt your diet depending on the situation that presents itself on the day or the week is a skill
A skill that following a meal plan does not teach you
Being prepared for the week ahead
Especially around lunch time whilst you’re at work would probably solve 75% of your current problems wouldn’t it 👀
So maybe before you sit down to see if Tommy Lee Royce kills Cathrine throw a few meals together for the week ahead
Your future self will thank you massively!
Exercises that need to get in the bin Episode :3
A rack pull done above the knee
It honestly doesn’t really give you much
And I see it get butchered time and time again
Try doing a deadlift but raise the bar off the floor
It will make it so much easier for you get into a deadlift position without compromising the range of movement that the rack pull will
Give it a go
How long will you shoot the fire with a water pistol?
Trying your hardest but not really getting anywhere.
It's time to address the real problem.
Instead of focusing on the latest protein pudding or miracle powder, try taking a step back and evaluating your weekly meals.
Are you relying too heavily on takeaways and dining out?
While it's okay to treat yourself every now and again, consistently relying on convenience foods can sabotage your weight loss goals.
Take control of your health and start cooking for yourself and your family at least 6 out of 7 days a week.
You'll not only see results, but you'll also feel better knowing you're fuelling your body with whole, homemade meals.
Hiring a coach isn’t an easy decision
And I bet there are a million and one of them floating around your inbox 👀
But here are 3 things you should take into consideration before you spend your money
Saying you want to lose weight is very vague
You need to focus on the tangible actions that will help you achieve that end result
How much you move
How much you eat
How much sleep you get
How much water you drink
Focusing on these things will ultimately take you to where you want to be
You’re not a dog
You don’t need to reward yourself for a hitting a weight loss target with food 👀
You don’t need to create this relationship with food when you eat to celebrate an achievement
Find another way to celebrate….you’ll thank yourself 🙌🏼
So you’ve hired a personal trainer?
Here are 3 things you need to know before you get started
As humans we search for pleasure
And usually we try to get it very quickly
But changing your mindset to focus on delaying the pleasure until you reach you goal
Can turn into a very powerful tool
A plan without action means nothing
Sometimes the best thing you can do is just throw yourself into doing something
It’s very easy to make all these awesome plans and have these great ideas
But then if nothing happens, what was the point?
Just do something 👀
You know what you’re doing?
You know how to do it?
But you just can’t make it stick
You go a few days but then something comes up
So you restart and have the best intentions to get back on it
But it never happens
This is where Laura was at
Laura’s a unbelievable coach herself and helps so many women achieve their goals
But this led to her own goals being pushed into the background
Very similar to anyone in a position of care
Other people take priority!
With Laura we set non negotiables that need to be completed over the course of the week
Which meant if she had a long day working she knew she could just catch things up later in the week
We also looked at her working out from home for a session a week
This saved her time when it came to commuting to and from the gym
Which meant she could be in and out of her session without wasting any time
As always flexibility and being able to adapt a plan to Laura’s individual needs and schedule was the name of the game
And all that lead to Laura leading by example even more than she already was

Because today marked the start of a new journey for you

Today has reaffirmed what I already knew
That you are brave, confident, empathetic and most of all happy
Not many dads are lucky enough to spend the amount of time that I have with their children
And i have loved every single second
To being able to hold and watch to take your first breaths
To carrying your back pack up those school gates
You honestly have taught me more than anyone else
You make me prouder everyday
And as you encounter more of these chapters in your life, know that I will always be a couple steps behind you for as long as I can encouraging you every step of the way

Just wanted tell you a little about me
I live in sunny Barnsley👀, originally from the midlands but moved to Barnsley for the accent 😂
I help men & women who struggle with their weight to feel comfortable within their own body again….most notably who dropped 5 stone last year 🤯
I have a 3 year old son who is everything to me….even if he throws up in my face whilst I’m sleeping
Honestly I’ve found being a parent, running a business and staying ontop of my own health hard….so I know how you feel
I love my job, it helps me literally change peoples lives
I guess I’m pretty strong….having squatted over 260kg previously
I run 1-1 personal training at in garforth, leeds… so if that’s something you’re looking for hit me up
I love a beer (maybe to a fault) which is why I’m currently doing dry January
I can’t wait to start my next 30 day programme at the end of January….someone in the last intake lost 14lbs 🤯👀
I’m not really one of those typical coaches or trainers who lives and breathes gym (not saying I don’t enjoy it) but I have a life outside of it…..so I can 100% understand you more 👀🎣

Not prepped anything for work?
Well ready meals aren’t always that bad
And they can be a lot better than picking up a meal deal
You can make them more suitable to your goals
You just have to make the right choices
Most ready meals tend to be lacking a little bit in protein.
So adding some extra using some ready cooked meat can be a great tool to bump up those numbers and bulk out your meal
Adding some extra veg is another great way to add extra bulk to the meal, without added loads of extra calories…..so grabbing som back of microwave veg is never a bad shout
Also allow yourself to have a bit of something you’ve been fancying
Got some left over Christmas chocolate?
Or fancy a bag of cheese & onion?
Have it after your meal
Remember don’t try to eliminate everything
Try to with ways to include these things

Same s**t different January?
Picture this, you jump into your January diet
(Obviously new year new me and all that)
You’re ready to go
You cut out alcohol, sweets, maybe even carbs all together
It starts well, you probably drop a lot of weight week one
Maybe even do the same week two
Week three rolls around, you start to miss some of the things you cut out
Then the weekend comes, and boom massive fu***ng blow out
You binge on all those things you’ve missed for the past three weeks
Diet ruined right?
Maybe, maybe not
But what if I told you that you could avoid that binge all together
If you kept elements of the things your love in your diet
You can still lose weight with them there
Yes I’m not going to lie to you and say you won’t need to restrict them a little
But you won’t need to say bye to them full stop
And keeping them there…might actually help you out long term 👀

Maybe in January you’ve already said you’re going to lay off the chocolate and crisps
And not have a drink
But has that worked for you in the past?
Or have you given up because you were living like a monk?
And the question I ask you, could you do that forever?
Because if that’s the only way you see yourself losing weight….then have a good life without all those enjoyable things 😂
Learn to lose weight whilst having these things
Then maintaining that weight loss will be so easy because you will still be eating and enjoying the things you love 🤷🏻♂️
Everything should adapt to your life….not the other way around
Be flexible with your approach when I comes to losing weight
It will make it a lot easier to stick to
Being a parent is hard
Losing weight is hard
Doing both at the same time….can seem impossible
But it will only seem that way when you don’t know what works for you
Gaby is a mum to a young son who is constantly on the go (I can attest to this as he’s my son too😂)
She also works full time splitting time between home and the office
So like many people she struggles with the lack of activity when working as her job is mainly desk based
Now this can become a problem if you let it
With Gaby we accepted that she isn’t going to be able to move as much during the week due to work and childcare etc
But the weekends were here opportunity to bring that average up
So we set achievable targets for her to hit during the week…still meant she needed to get up and about but they weren’t unrealistic numbers
And then over the weekend we set the targets for her to be as active as possible when she had the free time
This played into the fact she could do activities with the family whilst becoming healthier and losing weight 🙌🏼
Win fu***ng win
There is no uniform way of doing things and it’s my job to help you find the ways that work for you and your life

A nice week on the personal side of things for me
Training went very well…a couple of pbs this week 🙌🏼
Rounded off with a charity evening celebrating the fundraising successes this year for the .clarkson.fund
Was good spending time with friends and family
And I’ve finally discovered I like mince pies 👀😂
Inside the business was also making some moves
has lost 13lbs in 3 weeks 🤯
has hit a new low weight this week and started stacking some of the machines in the gym 💪🏼
joins the team and is getting ready to smash her goals out of the park
So here’s to another good week and the start of a great month
