Following on from WITBoss last week, we wanted to shine a light on two organisations supporting young women and women on their path to leadership.

Getaway Girls aims to get girls and young women empowering and supporting each other, build their confidence and resilience and develop their skills in a positive, supportive, and cooperative environment.

is led by Leeds Beckett University and aims to enhance the resilience and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by building women's leadership skills, capabilities, and opportunities in the Leeds City Region.

We were delighted to have provided a platform for both organisations at WITBoss, and we will continue to support their missions.

Something that is at the core of our values is to celebrate and have fun, and that’s what we did today by going for a congratulatory lunch at The Alchemist 🍴

We welcomed Amy Samouelle, Kim Sanderson and Amy Hill from Leeds Beckett University's , who gave an introduction to the project and also delivered a workshop on ‘Managing your focus: how to make the best use of your time’ to the women within Corecom.

“The three-year (Women Empowered through Coaching and Networking) project aims to enhance the resilience and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by building the leadership skills, capabilities, and opportunities of women in the Leeds City Region” 👏

Managing Director, Jonathan Sanderson and Marketing Executive, Kelly Newton attended their second Candlelighters Business Collaboration project last week.

It was amazing to hear from Natalie and Lucy about how the Candlelighters family support team help siblings, parents, grandparents, and all members of families of children with cancer, they really do make a difference to their lives, they even threw a birthday party for a young girl in treatment last week 🥳

It’s an honour to work alongside Chris Salt, Iain Blackwood Hobbs and the Candlelighters team to help raise vital funds and spread their message across the community. We strongly suggest you take a look at the various challenges they have on throughout the year (we may have a few lined up) 🏞

On Friday we concluded our Internal Diversity and Inclusion Training that was delivered to us by D&I Ambassadors Aishia Ullah and Dominic Brown.

The last six sessions have given our teams the knowledge and skills to approach conversations around ED&I confidently and comfortably with candidates and also with clients to help improve their own D&I landscape, and we want to say a massive thank you 🙌

Our D&I Ambassadors can also provide these workshops to clients who are on their D&I journey or are ready to get started 🚀

We brought back the 80’s on Thursday at Corecom for our monthly challenge day 💪

Headed up by referees Sam Finnegan and Tom Long, the team have had various trials to complete throughout the day to win points for the ultimate prize at the end of the day.

They’ve included:

🍳 Classic egg and spoon race
🍹 Guess the smoothie shot flavour
🎶 Name that 80’s song quiz
🥤 Flippy cup relay

I think the whole team can agree they’ve had an extremely fun day, with the highlight being waiting for everyone to walk into the office this morning with their shell suits, mullets, neon activewear and flares on 🤩

Great effort guys, and well done to the winning team Aishia Ullah, Lewis Horwell, Jack Watson and James Geeson 🏆

And thank you to Sam and Tom for organising 👏

We had our end of year awards on Friday as part of our 2022 strategy day 🎉

⭐ George Lund won overall ‘Top Biller’, beating his personal record within the company, and establishing himself as a true market specialist in the Contract Test market

⭐ Sam Finnegan won ‘Most Valuable Player of the Year’, having won the most votes over the last year from his peers for his work ethic and becoming a pivotal person within the business

⭐ Leroy Watson won ‘Outstanding Contribution’ for his amazing work starting the Netherlands branch of the company from scratch and becoming one of our top performers after only being here a year

⭐ Aishia Ullah won ‘Peoples Champion’ which was voted for by the whole company for her passion and dedication to Diversity and Inclusion, along side smashing her targets and being a big character in the office

⭐ Ash Grant and Kelly Newton won special ‘Directors Awards’ for their continued hard work and outstanding results over the last year in both Internal Recruitment and Marketing

The Corecom Christmas party was on Friday night at YurtBar, where the whole team celebrated the businesses 2021 achievements 🍻

We’re set to have our best year ever, and we couldn’t have done it without the hard work of each individual, thank you team Corecom 👏⭐

On Monday we hosted a Christmas party for some of the Corecom Kids 🎁

They made their own baubles for the Corecom Christmas tree, decorated gingerbread men, played pass the parcel, tucked into an impressive buffet and even had a visit from Santa! 🎅

Corecom Kids Christmas Party Santa arrives at Corecom!

Team Corecom were out at Thors Tipi on Friday celebrating some very good results and company records broken 🍻

Yesterday we collected and handed over our shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child UK Shoebox Appeal, something we proudly get involved in every year 🎁

Thank you Team Corecom for getting involved and helping children less fortunate over the festive period 👏

We recently got involved with Investors in People's 30th birthday celebrations by sharing our story with them using their four themes 'nostalgia, appreciation, relevancy and ambition' 🎂

Managing Director, Jonathan Sanderson, Operations & HR Manager, Gemma Robinson and Marketing Executive, Kelly Newton had the pleasure of attending their charity partner, Candlelighters event ‘The Candlelighters Business Collaboration Project’ last Wednesday.

They had the opportunity to hear a very inspirational story from a father’s journey with childhood cancer, as well as learning about how Candlelighters are funding research and how the money raised supports those families in need. We got to meet some of the amazing Candlelighters team, network with likeminded businesses and enjoy some pink cocktails and canapés 🍹

Thank you to Chris Salt and the team for the invite, and well done on an amazing eye opening event ⭐

Our Managing Director, Jonathan Sanderson was asked by Noushin Aslam Raja, founder of our charity partner Moonlight Trust to deliver a ‘Raising Women Leaders’ masterclass as part of a Yorkshire wide project to build employability skills amongst women from ethnic minority backgrounds.

Candlelighters provides lots of groups and events each year for children facing childhood cancer and their siblings. These groups and events are vital for mental wellbeing, giving children the opportunity to make new friends, have fun, create memories, and simply spend time enjoying being children when they’ve had to deal with the life-changing impacts of childhood cancer.

Corecom Consulting were thrilled to recently support Candlelighters' annual Halloween party by providing teepees to decorate the hall! The party was filled with lots of fun and activities, including potion and mummy-making, as well as pumpkin decorating and fancy dress competitions with spooktacular prizes for the winners. The children then cosied up in the teepees with pizza and a film! All in all, the patients and siblings had a wonderful time and we couldn't be happier.

The Corecom Kids parents braved the wind and rain on Sunday to take their little ones out trick or treating and some even carved pumpkins 👻🎃

We’re really looking forward to welcoming them to the office at the end of the month for a Christmas themed party 🎅

Last week the whole of team Corecom were in the office for a series of Halloween themed sales games and activities 👻

Everyone was been split into teams to win an extended lunch that will be paid for, and the losers performed a forfeit later in the day.

Yesterday was National Mentoring Day 🎓

We are very proud to have two of our Women in Technology Engagement Associates, Aishia Ullah and Katie Menzies, taking part in the University of Liverpool’s Career Confidence for Women Mentoring programme.

On Friday, our Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors, Aishia Ullah and Dominic Brown, started our new internal training programme after recently completing a training course ran by the amazing Jo Major (She/her) 👏

In our ‘Introduction to Diversity and Inclusion’ session, we learnt about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in recruitment, the Equality Act, privilege and identity amongst other topics. It was a really engaging session that opened up all of our eyes and provoked some great discussions.

We can’t wait for the rest of the sessions and to continue learning 💥

We had the honour of funding some pink goody bags for Candlelighters Trust 'Pink It Up week', which were distributed to children staying on the oncology wards at Leeds Children’s Hospital. These bags were filled with pink goodies and treats for the amazing children receiving treatment for cancer who may need to stay in hospital for long periods of time, which can be especially isolating with the COVID pandemic. We were delighted to be able to help those children and teens that may need a boost during these tough times.

We’re also keen to help Candlelighters support families in other ways, which is why we’re undertaking the Total Warrior event and raising vital funds which will allow them to help families both on the wards and out in communities all across Yorkshire, emotionally, practically and financially.
