11:00 on 15 October and 14:30 17 October
with tantalising tasters of works for the violin played and heard in Leeds C18-C20.
The route connects players and teachers, performances, venues, makers and the evolution of the musical life of Leeds.

Along the way, we'll learn from and about the most famous 19th century violinist of Leeds & W Riding - the memorably named George Haddock. He studied with great European soloists, led chamber music & orchestras, taught hundreds of pupils and owned a famous collection of violins. He also seems to have been a very lovely human being.

After more than three decades as a regular on the New Yober ork City club circuit and three years in the Nashville music scene, award-winning saxophonist Joel Frahm returns to Leeds! He has appeared alongside noted jazz artists such as Brad Mehldau, Bill Charlap and Matt Wilson and has recorded with Dianne Schuur, Freddy Cole, Jane Monheit and others. He has performed at night clubs, music clinics, and jazz festivals around the world. Fans know him for his big tenor sound – fluid, inventive and full of passion.

Ingrid Laubrock has played and recorded with Brazilian singer Monica Vasconcelos' band NÓIS and the Brazilian quartet NÓIS4 of which she is a founding member. Other musicians she has made guest appearances with include Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, Polar Bear, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Scott Fields, and Anthony Braxton. Hear her Seven Arts Leeds on Thursday 26 September in concert with a quartet of Laura Cole, piano, John Pope, bass, Johnny Hunter drums. Doors 7.15 pm . Support solo set from Laura Cole 7.30-8pm

What a day! Fen's masterclass was fabulous! Then all singers learnt the ensemble numbers and then my very favourite bit.... peer masterclass. Every performer sings their worked on solo for each other, and gains invaluable feedback and support from there peers.

I love this programme... this is how theatre is made for me. With nurture and challenge in a perfect balance everyone grows in talent and confidence. And now what we have is an incredible concert that will redefine your love of musical theatre and allow you to experience beautiful music from shows you may not know... but will want to find out more about!
