Full Bathroom refurb. Completed a couple of weeks ago. Only just got round to posting the pics.

Before and after pictures of an en-suite shower and floor renew. The old tray was leaking and had done considerable damage to the floor boards & joists. All of which were repaired and replaced.
Shower tiles replaced by shower wall panelling, new raised tray and plinth, new LVT flooring.

Staircase revamp. Old posts cladded to give a more modern look. Oak hand rail, base rail and post caps. Stair strings cladded over. New square spindles. Under stairs cupboard re-worked and new doors made. All ready for a fresh full plaster and decorate. A lot of work and time went into this project including strengthening some of the old newel posts and replacing a couple of them.

WC completed. Fully tiled, comfort height toilet, ceiling skimmed, new spotlights with motion sensor control.

Kitchen knock through we’ve just completed creating a nice big open plan area. The integrated appliances. Just needs final decorations to make it come to life.

A lot of work went into this project, the original floor was ridden with woodworm and had to have all the joists and boarding replaced. Fully plastered walls & ceilings. Separating wall knocked down. Back door bricked up. Window removed and sliding door installed. Boiler cupboard doorway blocked up.

Before and after pictures of a job completed last week. Old modular shower cubicle removed. New tray installed with wet wall panelling. New enclosure fitted. We added an inline extractor fan to help with ventilation.

Now fully tiled walls & floor.
New comfort height toilet.
Reused the basin and small radiator.

Reused the bath & basin. The mirror was asked to be kept if possible and which much care attention we kept it intact on the wall.

Fully taken back to brick and ceiling taken down, re-boarded & skimmed. New electrics & spot lights in the kitchen. New kitchen installed. Tiled splash back. Vinyl flooring right through into hallway. New internal doors, skirting & architraves.

TV wall alcoves completed a couple of weeks ago.
Recessed lighting, push button doors and enough space for plenty of wine.

Porch tiling job finished today. A lot of work went into what seemed a small job. Old quarry tiles taken up and discovered the concrete beneath them was cracked and not sound enough to retile over. After breaking it out we filled the ground back up with hardcore, 100mm rigid insulation, damp course, sand and cement screed. Then it was finally ready to tile once properly left to dry out fully.
The customer was very understanding with the whole situation and was just happy it was going to be done properly

Small porch floor levelled and finished with LVT. Wooden panelling on the wall to be painted to match the pvc sides.

This is why business' and relationships fall apart when running a business!

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... it’s one of the hardest things you will try and balance

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5 years or relationships fall apart. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!

Another full bathroom refurb completed today.
Separate toilet and bathroom knocked through into one to create more floor space and a better layout. Check out the before picture to see how much of a difference has been made. The customer is very happy with it and said it is even better than she imagined it would be 🤩
